I was expecting to have to walk for hours in my dress and heels, but when Ally opened the door to her house and gestured for me to follow her, I didn't say no. I might as well let my legs rest before killing them.

"Hey, come over here," Ally called from the living room.

I got up and found my way to the living room. Ally was standing my the globe with a gloved hand on top. "What are you doing? You know that Mr. Is- I mean, your dad told you never to touch that."

"Yeah. Then he told me I was a witch. Watch this," she turned the knob that held the sphere of the earth in place. The globe lit up. "It's a Statim Movere. Like almost everything in the magical world, it's in Latin. It means Move Instantly. It basically lets us teleport from one place to another without moving."

"Awesome!" I moved a little closer. "How does it work?"

"You touch the place on the map you want to go and it takes you there. You have to activate it with your gemstone, though. We can add yours to this one, but you probably already have on in your house."

I thought back to the library. The globe that Dad always told me to never touch. "Oh yeah."

"We should get going. We have to get to the initiation!" she said initiation in a very...singsongy tone.

"Okay. So, where is this happening?" I asked, standing next to her.

"It usually happens in somewhere we find the most meaningful, but we have to figure that out ourselves. We have to prove that we're smart and worthy of joining their ranks."

"Fair. So, where do we love?" We thought for a minute. "Would it have to be the same place?"

"Yeah. Let's see...Greece?"

"I thought about that too, but why there? I mean, we've never been there and it holds no significant meaning to us."

"Okay," then it hit us. "CHINA!" We said at the same time.

"Of course! I mean, we met there, and there is a myth about there being one room that no one could ever break into at the Forbidden City," I offered.

"It much be there! Let's go," Ally grabbed my hand and tapped Beijing. "The Forbidden City," she said as thin, air-like smoke came out of the globe and surrounded us.

~~~
Within seconds, the smoke cleared, and Ally and I stood right outside the Forbidden City. There were about twenty figures dressed in long, black robes.
"Well done, Eva, Allysa. You have made it to your initiation. While we prepare, please feel free to talk with our other members," One of the cloaked figures told us as they turned and walked through the wall.
"What-" I started.
"E, calm down. We're surrounded by witches and warlocks. I'm going to assume that that's normal. Let's go mingle!" Ally grabbed my hand and dragged me into the crowd. Well, pushed me.
I did my best to weasel my way through the crowd. I was doing a relatively good job until I tripped over someone's robes and fell to the floor.
I lifted my head and panted. There was a hand reaching down to me. I looked up, and a boy with strawberry blonde hair and green eyes was looking right back down at me
"Hey, you okay?" he helped me back up to my feet.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm good. Thank you," I did my best to dust myself off, but when my head snapped back up, he made direct eye contact with me.
