Two weeks before Jennifer's Due Date...

Filing some papers into the filing cabinet at the office building. Grabbing a few different ones, I got a meeting in seven minutes. It's a monthly meeting with all head managers of the different floors in the company. To see how well the company is doing and what's not going well. Going into the conference room, I place the files down on the table. Everyone enters the room. Before I took my seat, I put my hand in my pant pocket, trying to grab my phone. Except my phone wasn't in my pocket checking my other pockets, it wasn't in them either. 

"Hey, what you looking for?" Nolan asks me. 

"My phone." Telling him. 

"You misplaced your phone? That not like you." 

"I know with Jennifer being so close to the due date. My mind has been a little preoccupied. I'm going to look in my office." Leaving the conference room and going into my office, my phone was sitting on my desk. Grabbing my phone, I had twelve missed calls in a row, and they were all Jennifer. Pulling up her contact on my phone, I call her. It rang once. 

"Jennifer, what's going on?" Asking her.

"Kendrick, my water just broke, and I am on my way to the hospital," Jennifer says in a panic but excited kind of tone. Hearing those words, my throat got all tight, including my chest. Panic hit me as well. "Kendrick?.. You still there?" 

"Who taking you?" I really didn't want her driving herself. 

"Mrs. Conners." Thank goodness that a slight weight off my chest. 

"Alright, I'm on my way. I will meet you guys there." 

"Alright, love you. Bye." 

"Love you, bye." Hanging the phone up and sending Mr. Hollows a message to get the car. 

I leave the office and let my secretary know to let Nolan know to start the meeting without me. Getting to the parking garage, I get in the car and head to the hospital. Getting to the hospital and going to the labor wing, I go to the check-in desk. 

"Hi, how can I help you?" A desk secretary asks. 

"My wife is in Labor. The name is Jennifer Ryans." She looks at the computer screen and types on the keyboard. 

"Yes, of course. She is in the room straight down this hall, the second door on the right." Giving her a nod, I go straight to Jennifer's room. Entering the room, Jennifer was lying in bed, hook up to some different machines. Even the one for the epidural.

"Hey, Baby-doll." Saying hi to my girl. 

"You're finally here," she says with a big smile. 

"Yea, I'm finally here." Taking a seat next to her and taking her hand. 

"She is finally coming. I will hold her soon." Tears of joy were pricking at her eyes. 

"Yea, you will." She smiles at me, and I returned it to her. The hospital room door opens, and a nurse comes in. She was an older nurse. She had short blonde hair with a little grey in it. 

"Hi, I'm Margret. I'm Jennifer nurse." The nurse says 

"Kendrick, and I am the husband." 

"Nice to meet you. Jennifer, I need to check and see how far dilated you are." Jennifer nods her head. The nurse checks to see how much longer we have to wait. 

"Jennifer, do you feel like pushing?" 

"Yes." Jennifer answers. 

"Well, you are dilated far enough. Just let me grab doctor Hansen." The nurse says and leaves the room.
