Sir Thomas Scuffle of Buffledon Bay,
Was a fearsome knight who liked jousting for play.
He would sharpen his blades on a hot summers night, ready in case the bandits gave him freight.
One night whilst the King and the Queen were in their castle sleeping,
And the maids in the servants chambers were all busy sweeping;
Sir Thomas he heard a splashing sound,
Then suddenly what seemed like a bump on the ground.
He gathered his men and his armour too,
then leapt to the arrow slits to suss out what to do.
Whilst he watched through the slatted holes he saw men swimming across the moat,
Sneaking past the cattle; even past Glenda the goat.
He loaded his bow and arrow and aimed it up high,
The arrow soared speedily through the ink coloured sky.
Soon there was shouting and loud screeching cries,
He peeped through the slits and saw the men dropping like flies.
These enemies climbed back upon their horses and rode off into the night,
With a feeling of triumph Sir Thomas let out a sigh.
The King how he praised him, spoiling him with a feast for dinner,
After this Sir Thomas Scuffle was surely a winner!
