There was once a chief in the island of Samoa that had three sons: Pride, Greed, and love. These names were given to them by their father. Each son was given a name that would describe their personality and what would become of them. Pride a tall, bulky long-haired man who could kill any beast from the water, jungle, or air; he is what his name describes, prideful and he would let anyone know that he is strongest. Greed, the middle child is tall and ripped a little smaller than Pride. He loves taking all the precious fruits of the land for himself which is why the villagers despise him. Love is a small, quiet but kind man. He loves spending his time with the villagers and is often seen helping them. Greed and Pride love hunting together and never includes their little brother in their affairs. They often beat on him when their father is gone for war. "Why do you hurt me older brother?" Loved asked. "I hurt you because you are a lie and should never be born, for you are Love" Greed replied. Love endured his brother's abuse. Their father, the chief goes to war often. He was once in love with a beauty from the sea, they had three children together. Their mother spent many nights taking care of Greed and Pride. Their mother was a beautiful woman with long black hair, "The greatest beauty Polynesia has ever seen" the villages often say. It was a silent night, everyone in the village was gathered in the town hall to witness the chief's wife give birth. It was a tough battle, a long night of pain and suffering. Finally, the baby was born. " I will name you Love, for you are gentle, kind, selflessness and true" the mother said. Everyone was grateful to see the son of the chief. Greed and Pride were present, "look at him, he's so small" they made their remarks, jealous of their mother's heart for Love. After she gave birth to Love she disappeared one lonely night and never came back.

The chickens crowed and the sun shined. The waves crashed and brought the ships back to shore. The chief has returned from war and he brought spoils. "Gather my son's and meet in the town hall" the chief announced. Greed went out and hunted a shark as a gift for his father, Pride went and hunted a Wild Boar, Love went and helped the villagers prepare for the chief. When the sun died the chief met and the villagers met in the town hall. "I brought the daughter of Tonga; she will marry one of my sons to solidify our alliance" the chief said. Love was nowhere to be seen but the princess and chief did not know that he was helping the villagers prepare the feast. Pride just like his name, wanted to be the first to try his chance with the princess. Instead of offering the shark to his father, he gave it to the princess. "What is your name?" Pride asked the beautiful princess. The princess proudly replied, "my name is Ofa, it means Love in Tongan." Pride was impressed and knew that he had to inspire Ofa. He showed her the village and while walking, a villager bumped into Pride. With all the rage in the world he struck the villager. Disgusted with his behavior, Ofa left and made her way to the town hall. Ofa asks herself "are all the chief's sons like that?" Angry that he failed his chance with Ofa: Pride takes his anger on the villagers and his brother, Love. Greed is happy that his brother failed so he attempts his chance at love. He asks Ofa to go on a walk with him. It is a beautiful day, the sun is smiling, and the trees are greener than usual. As they walk through the village Greed declares "when my father dies all of this will be mine, and all of the villagers will work harder than ever to make this village prosper." Ofa questions him "will the villagers do all the work?" Greed is surprised by her question; he thinks to himself. "Of course, the villagers will do all the work and they will pay for all the material to build this land." Just like she did to Pride, Ofa stomped off.

Ofa makes her way back to the town hall and she sees the villager's houses burn. The fire ate the trees and the houses up. She notices a small man putting out the fire and helping the villagers. "Help, my baby is in there!" a woman yelled. The man storms inside without a fear in the world and grabs the baby. As soon as he steps out of the burning house, the house collapse. The villagers do everything in their power to stop the fire while Pride and Greed are nowhere to be found. Ofa is moved by the small man, she asks him "what is your name" and the man responds proudly "my name is love just like my mother: gentle, kind, selflessness and true." Ofa has decided, "I will marry this man, I will make him the greatest king of Polynesia and I will tell my father of all his excellent work" Love is surprised but is bursting with happiness, for once his love for his villagers has been repaid. The jealousy of his brothers grew and grew. The chief wants all the villagers to hear of the betrothal of his son, so they gathered in the town hall once again. It was going to be a night no one in Samoa will forget. Ofa declares that Love will her partner and Love does the same. The townhall door is broken down and in walks the two brothers, Love and Greed. They sit in front of their father, brother and soon to be sister-in-law. With all their hate spewing out they finally speak. "Long ago, mother did not leave, we killed her! We knew that love would be her favorite. The village fires were also me; I was angry I failed my chance with Ofa. I Pride, will challenge Love to a fight to the death for Ofa's hand in marriage." "No! My sons will not fight each other, it would break my heart" Love accepts for he too was angry for their involvement in the fires and his mother's death. "Father I have to do this, for their treason against this land and their queen." The chief agrees and they immediately got to it. Pride makes his first move with a kick, but Love dodges it with the speed of the wind for he is small but light. It was not long until Pride got tired and lost his stamina, it was Love's chance to end the battle. He quickly trips Pride, and he stumbles down on his knees. Love with the wrath of an angry bull he proclaims, "Pride your actions against the villagers and my mother cannot be ignored, but because I love you as my brothers you and Greed will be exiled from here and to never return" The chief had no rejections. After Ofa and Love make their way to Tonga to meet the king. They are on a ship; they see dolphins and whales and the waves waving to them. Ofa asks "what was your mother's name" love answers "her name was Alofa it means love, gentle, kind, selflessness and true" ...
