I Promise You - Kaisoo

Kai's POV

I was heading downtown to get some groceries as we were running short on food in the dorm. As soon as I got out of my room, Baekhyun hyung bumped into me. "Ouch, hyung! Watch where you are going." I exclaimed. He didn't reply and quietly went back to his room, shutting the door behind him. I shrugged and went to the living room.

I saw Chen hyung making us breakfast in the kitchen. The smell of yummy ramen was making my mouth water. Then I thought of Baekhyun hyung. "Did he fight with Chanyeol hyung again?" I asked Chen hyung even though I was pretty sure that must have been it. "You know how they are, they'll be back to normal by the end of the day," he stated the obvious.

I just stared at the pot of ramen for a while, lost in thoughts. Chen hyung looked up at me observing how lost I was. "You going somewhere? Did Kyungsoo finally get time?" Hyung asked me. "He's probably shooting today as well. I was just gonna go get us some groceries," I replied wishing what I said was not true. "Aah. Okay. Don't worry Nini. He will definitely make time for you. He's just got a lot on his plate right now," Chen hyung said trying to cheer me up. I nodded in understanding and got out of the dorm.

The cold breeze slapped me across the face as soon as I stepped out. I should've worn a jacket but I was too lazy to go back in again. I drove to the local grocery store. I was searching around the aisles when I heard my phone ding. I checked it to see a text from Xiumin hyung.

Minseok hyung: Nini, I'm attaching a list of things we need for the dorm. Get them on your way back.

Nini: Sure, hyung

The list was filled with food and drinks as if there was a party at home. I bought all the stuff on the list and headed back to the dorm. When I was about to start the car, I heard another ding. I pulled out my phone.

Junmyeon hyung : Jongin-ah! Please go to the clothes store and pick up my clothes. I need them for the schedule tomorrow. Here's the store address and bill.

Nini : Okay, hyung.

I was getting hyung's clothes from the store when Baekhyun hyung called me.

*phone call*
"Hyung?"
"Nini, where are you?"
"At the clothes store. Why?"
"Get me some wine on your way home. I need to drown my sorrows away,"
"Ummm...okay"
*phone call ends*

He didn't even let me say bye. Typical Baekhyun hyung.

After picking up the wine, I called Kyungsoo hyung to see if he was free and wanted to get lunch together but he didn't answer the call. Right then, Hunnie called me. "What's with everyone calling me and asking me to run errands for them?!" I exclaimed to no one in particular.

*phone call*
"Kim Kai. I'm sending you an address. Go there and collect the flower bouquet. It's for the event I have to attend in the evening. Bye."
*phone call ends*

What the....! He didn't even let me talk. I did a facepalm and headed to the address he sent. I was halfway back when Baekhyun hyung called me again. I connected the call to my car's speaker.

*phone call*
"Hello, Nini. Yeol wants to talk to you. Apparently, his phone ran out of battery...tsk"
Baekhyun hyung said before passing the phone to Chanyeol hyung. I heard some shuffling noises on the other end.
"Hello, Jongin-ah! Wait, let my go to my room. Okay so, go to the jewellery store and get promise rings. Just... don't tell Beakhyunnie."
"Are you!?...."
"No no... just making a promise that I'll be his forever. Okay, he's coming. I'll talk to you later. Bye."
*phone call ends*

Why does everyone need stuff today, Aishhh. By the time, I completed all the errands, I was actually praying for no one else to call me. But, as fate would have it, Chen hyung also decided to call me today of all days.

*phone call*
"What should I get for you hyung?" I asked half whining.
"Haha, I don't need anything."
"Really? You are an angel."
"But I want you to go to this address."
"Why? Who's there? What's there? Are you planning on getting me killed?"
"Lol, just go Jongin."
*phone call ends*

I went to the address he sent and it was an open field. There was no one around and it was pretty creepy. Just then someone closed my eyes from behind me. That added to my fear. I could hear my heart beating out of my chest. That person made me walk somewhere. "Listen to me. Don't call or try to reach out to anyone. Just go in here and change your clothes." He said. Wait... I knew this voice, it was like.... "Lay hyung?.... Is that you?" I asked. "Yes...now, go and change." He said pushing me in.

I changed into the clothes I picked for Suho hyung and they were a perfect fit. Something is definitely off. I went out but no one was there. I walked back to my car thinking that Lay hyung must have been waiting there but he wasn't, instead I saw a note on the windshield.

I turned around to see Kyungsoo hyung, on his knees, holding the flowers Sehun asked me to get. I took the flowers from him and he stood back up. "Wait, so it was all planned? They didn't need any of these, did they?" I asked relieved but also stressed at the same time. "No. They helped me set up this date for us." "A picnic? Wow, I really wanted to have one with you for quite a long time. How did you know?" I asked him surprised.

"Wait...Nini. I wanted to give you something. I've been wanting to do this for a while now. Hope you accept it," he said bringing out the promise rings and taking one in his fingers. He took my hand with the other one. "Nini, I promise to make time for you always. Be there whether you need me or not. I'll be a part of your happiness and by your side in your sorrow. I PROMISE YOU." He said gently, making my eyes water. I was left speechless, all I could say was "me too hyung. I love you." I hugged him and we stood there for a while, enjoying the cold breeze. After that, we set up the picnic basket and had the time of our lives, eating, talking, teasing, and kissing.

It felt so good to spend time with him after such a long time. "I love you, Nini." "I love you too, hyung."
