Her heart racing Lilly speeds out her dorm room rushing to get to the nearby cream coloured building.
She had been busy helping her new room mate get ready and had completely lost track of time.
She couldn't be late.
The teachers would kill her!
Even if she was a great student.
She flies down the stairs and rushes past people as she heads to her school.
She flies threw the gate, tosses her bag into the classroom and speeds into her line at assembly just in the nick of time.
The bell rang loud and clear reminding everyone of it's presence.
Immediately the sound of clicking high heels makes itself known.
Not a peep is heard as our principal, Miss Prude takes in our appearances.
Ms. Prude was a tall, slender teacher with lips painted blood red and a turned up nose.
She was always dressed in formal attire and I have never seen her smile.
"Good day students. Why are there so many of you missing today? Do you all think the rules don't apply anymore and you can come at anytime you want? Perhaps we've been to lenient with you," she says quietly.
No one says a word.
Suddenly her eyes fly to a girl with chestnut brown hair and fury takes over her face.
"Jessica Edwards! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN LINE G5? YOU'RE LINE IS G2!" she yells like a raging ox.
Everyone watches as Jessica, a relatively new girl, pales in colour and frantically runs to her line mumbling an apology.
Ms. Prude adored order and she ruled this school with an iron fist. Even though this school was mixed Ms. Prude did everything in her power to make sure that there was absolutely no 'mixing' of boys and girls.
Hence girls were in rows G1 to G5 and boys were in rows B1 to B6.
There were more boys than girls so an extra row was needed for them.
Everyone had an assigned position and they HAD to stay in that position or else.
For example Lilly's assigned position specifically is row G4 position number 14.
Always has been and always will be.
"Why is it so difficult for you to follow basic rules?" sighs Ms. Prude after she has calmed down.
"I have very grave news to tell you this morning I am afraid" says Ms. Prude...sadly?
Lilly wished she had known. Known that what she was about to hear was going to change her life forever and start her on a journey she might not survive. I pity her truly.
"Emilia Brickton, one of our very best students has passed away very suddenly last night. The cause of her death is unknown at the moment. All we know was that she was found not breathing."
Lilly was stunned. Emilia was dead? Emilia Brickton was an amazing student at Redville High and was always hanging out with the most popular students.
Truthfully Lilly never liked Emilia as there were rumors that she bullied people and she never once spoke to Lilly.
It was still shocking nonetheless as Emilia was seemingly fine last week.
Lilly wondered what had happened.
