A/N: This is inspired by the glmv above, and by the movie 'Jack and The Cuckoo-Clock Heart.' It's an underrated movie with an amazing storyline, go check it out. This is scripted but not edited so sorry for any mistakes.
Osamu was born with a ticking heart. The ticking heart makes it so that if your soulmate doesn't have the same affection that you have for them, then your ticking will start to slow down, and you die within a month.
Osamu had not come out to anyone except his best friend/crush, Suna and his family. He identified as pansexual.
-1985, April 4
One day when he was passing through the hallways, he saw Suna kissing another boy. 'At least he's not straight' Osamu thought to himself as he ran away from the scene with teary eyes.
The next day before school, his mom was about to wake Osamu when she found him having a seizure. His ticking start to slow down only x3. She rushed him over to the hospital, the doctor said if his crush didn't return his feelings, his heart would shut down on May 11, 1985.
Hearing the tragic news, he wrote a letter to Suna.
Suna,
It looks like I don't have enough time to live, anymore. The doctor says if the person I love does not love me back, I will die on March 11. I wanted you to know that you are that person. And after I saw you kissing that boy in the hallway, I almost lost my mind. Oh Suna how I'll miss you. See you in the afterlife, love.

After receiving the note a week before the expected death, Suna ran to the hospital. He ran as fast as his feet could take him, almost tripping. Note still in hand that was a fist, tears flowing, and feet running as fast as they possibly could.
When he reached the hospital he quickly exchanged info with the nurse, same questions like Name, who are you to the patient, and what room he's in.
He ran straight to the room slamming the door open, Osamu flinched at the sudden noise.
Suna explained that the boy he was kissing was a guy who had confessed to him, and before he could reject the boy, he kissed Suna.
" 'Samu, you're the one I am in love with. I'm not just saying this because you might die, I'm saying this because I've always been in love with you."
"S-Sun-"
Before the gray haired boy could finish his sentence, Suna had kissed him. Osamu's heart began to tick it's normal ticks again.
