Leaves

I want you to now discuss the creation of leaves. What processes lead to the formation of leaves on trees? Why do they exist? What purpose do they serve? Explain in detail.

The trees simply wanted clothing. They saw that far below them, stems had petals for hats. As the grew taller and taller, they also grew more jealous. Animals eyes turned to them as they became more apparent, but those eyes quickly turned away when they saw that they were just really big sticks. There was nothing special about them.

So the trees became desperate. They began to shout down to the stems below, asking how they became so beautiful. However, the stems never responded, thinking themselves to be much too pretty to talk to the ugly brown towers. And so the trees continued to live blandly and bitterly, wishing for something to give them more life.

Many years later, a young tree began to grow. It had begun to grow right below a stem, uprooting it on its way into the sky. It grew as a normal tree would, bare and thin, but as it grew taller and thicker, green buds were forming on its branches. The other trees were curious about this little one, and payed close attention to it as it grew older. Once the cold came, as it always did, the buds went away, and the little hope the other trees had, vanished.

But then it grew warm again, and the little trees' buds came back. It drew the curiosity of the other trees again, and the birds also came to see what would happen. Along with the birds came the squirrels, and they moved their homes into the growing tree, and when it was full, into the neighboring trees. Quickly, they began to realize the tree was growing petal shaped things on its branches.

Once the tree was fully done growing, it had a full head of petals. Because it wanted to be different, it started calling the petals leaves. It stood proudly, looking down on the stems below. When small brown things started to grow along the branches, the squirrels would wait for them to fall to the ground, and then they would go and put them in the ground. They though that it ruined the beauty of the tree, so they wanted to get rid of it.

But then, from those spots, more trees began to grow. They followed the same cycle the first tree had gone through, and soon surrounded the flowers that had thought themselves higher than the trees. And every time it grew cold and the flowers died, the trees shed their leaves after they had turned brown and became stiff. But then it grew warm, and they would get their leaves back. This cycle would go on to repeat throughout their lifetimes, even after fur-less animals that walked on two legs began to roam around.

~I know that was a really awkward ending, but I had no idea what to do with it... hope you still enjoyed it enough to read down to here :)~
