She sat there with a smile playing on her lips. She was happy, very happy to the point where she wanted to jump like when a kid receives a lollipop.

Today was the day when she will get married to the person she loved and just the thought of it sent sparks around her body.

Raghav and Kiara dated for one year before he proposed to her. Some people might think it's too early, but Kiara was ready to spend the rest of her life with him. He gave her everything she wanted — happiness and care.

The girls were putting some accessories on her when the door opened. Kiara turned around looking at my in-laws, my family, Aditya's family and Aditya.

They all looked panicked as if the world was to about to blast. She lifted her red and gold lehenga and approached them.

"What happened?" She asked, anxiously waiting for them to say something.

"Kiara..." her mum's voice broke and she fell on her knees. Noticing the tense atmosphere, the girls, who were doing her makeup, left the room.

Kiara immediately bent down and hug her mum. Patting her back, she looked at the rest for an answer because she knew for sure something had happened.

"Kiara beta...Raghav- Raghav ran away," her dad broke the news and Kiara froze.

There was something wrong with her ears or her brain was just jumbling words.

"What?" She said, her eyes already welling up.

"Raghav ran away," this time Raghav's mum responded, her head hung low embarrassed to face anyone.

"No, no this can't happen," Kiara shook her head, not believing what she just heard.

This couldn't be possible. Not at all. He couldn't just run away. Why would he run away? This had to be some type of sick joke her family were playing to prank her back for what she did a week ago by putting salt in their coffee. However, the look on their face said something else. They all were serious.

"The wedding is going to start in less than 2 hours and we can't cancel it. We have more than two thousand guests arriving," her dad spoke after a long silence and Kiara stared at her dad confused.

The groom ran away, so what wedding are they talking about?

"If this wedding doesn't take place, not only we will be humiliated but it would impact our company," her dad continued and her brows slopped down, not knowing where this conversation was heading.

"Just get to the point," she finally said, impatiently.

"Marry Aditya. His parent already convinced him so we just need your consent," Kiara's gaze shifted to Aditya, who was looking down the whole time.

She couldn't marry her best friend, not at all. Aditya and Kiara were best friends since they were young. Their parents were business partners so they met each other quite often. Aditya just returned from the US recently after three years. He never gave her the reason why he even went there in the first place and just shrugged off the topic whenever she brought it up.

"Please agree to this. If this marriage doesn't take place we won't be able to show our face to anyone," her dad pleaded and Kiara clenched her fist, slowly nodding.

What could she do? She didn't have any other choice except marry her best friend. More than herself, she felt bad for Aditya. He just came to attend the marriage and now he has to be the groom. She didn't know if there was someone else in his heart because if there was, she would never forgive herself.

Soon she was brought to the mandapt. She peeked through her lashes as she watched him place the Sindhoor on her forehead completing the marriage ritual.

Kiara closed her eyes, stopping the tears from rolling down her cheek. Her childhood best friend was now her husband because her to-be husband just left her.

How could he? If he didn't want to get married then why would he propose to her? She did start to notice how Raghav had isolated himself from her. He suddenly stopped messaging her 'goodnight' or even 'good morning'. She first thought that he may be busy since he had to manage his dad's business, however, he completely forgot about her.

When they met two weeks before their wedding day, Kiara confronted him about how he started to forget her, but he just made up some excuse such as he was tried or got busy with managing his dad's business.

Understanding his place, Kiara changing the topic, however, she noticed Raghav zoned out the whole time. He only spoke once or thrice and smiled whenever he saw her smile. He was constantly on his phone, messaging someone and when Kiara asked him who, he would place his phone down, nonchalantly shrugging as he told her it was one of his clients.

But now she knew why Raghav never paid attention to her, it was because he didn't want to marry her. He could've at least informed her, so she could stop this marriage, but no, he had to run away leaving her to clean his mess.

After conducting a few more rituals, she was sent to her new home. The whole ride was silent and awkward. None of them spoke and none of them wanted to. How could they? The relation between them now had changed. From best friends to wife and husband.

As soon as they reached in front of his house, Kiara immediately left the car running upstairs and ran into Aditya's room.

She slides down, her knees pulled up to her chest and her arm rested on it as she started crying. The tears she tried to hold in finally came out.
