The Eternal Bond

The perfect day

"Oh, guys, that concert was awesome!" Maya exclaimed.
"I know right!" Rosalina excitedly replied.
Meanwhile, Bartholamew, or Mew as his friends called him, Butch, and Jonathan sat in the back of the van playing "slap hand." Wayne was too busy playing his game boy to notice anyone else. Alex was drawing, and Stuart and Deuce were arguing about who-knows-what, as usual.

As Maya looked at all of them through the rear view mirror, her heart suddenly filled with love for her best friends. She loved them so much that it made her heart ache and a smile spread on her face. She wouldn't trade them for anything.
She looked back at the dark, rainy road. The headlights passing by looked so beautiful through the raindrops on the windshield.

Suddenly, a pair of headlights seemed to get too close. Maya saw them close in on her, and she slammed her foot on the break, the car making an ear-piercing shriek, but she was too late. The two vehicles hit head-on, and a loud, resonating crash sounded throughout the area. Maya's car spun off the bridge while the other spun and blocked both lanes, stopping traffic. Before long, blue and red flashing lights surrounded the area and sirens wailed into the night.

The police, fire department, and the paramedics looked all night for Maya and her friends, but they never found their bodies. All they found was a car whose hood was crushed into the windshield. Every one of their parents were there by the time they announced that they could not find them, and the despair hung tangibly in the air. What would become of their previous children?

Meanwhile, Maya woke up, her head throbbing from the brightness of light. As she gained her wits, she looked around and saw that Stuart, Mew, Rose, Alex, Butch, and Wayne were around her. But Deuce was gone. Where was he?

Slowly, her friends woke up as well, and they couldn't find Deuce, either. Panic spread through them at the disappearance of their friend. The worry was so great that they did not question where they were not did they think about the wreck they were just in; they were worried about finding their friend.

Little did they know that Deuce wasn't there. He was in the hands of someone mysterious. Someone powerful. Someone evil. And they weren't on Earth anymore.

A/N: I know, I know, this chapter was super short and rushed. I have an excuse, though?? I think.. Haha. Well, I started this story a while back, but I stopped writing before I finished the first draft. I really like the idea of this book, so I'm going to keep pushing on until it gets better. Maya- well rounded in most things, she's smart, athletic, and loves video games and anime. She's a tomboy and the center of her circle of friends

Rosalina- slightly emo, "Rose" loves music and is a fantastic singer. She sometimes is too hyper or too depressed, but Maya can usually help her.

Deuce- a tough guy, people like to try to intimidate him. It doesn't work, though. Despite his tough appearance, he loves animals and children. He's very sarcastic and never backs away from a fight. He doesn't get along well with Stuart, but he secretly sees him as a great friend.

Stuart- an athletic nerd, Stuart is filled with all kinds of information and abilities. He knows how to craft any thing out of wood and also studies the dark ages. He teases Deuce constantly, but actually admires him. He never ceases to make people laugh.

Wayne- the all around nerd of the group, Wayne loves anime, videogames, and anything else "nerdy". He can be quite sensitive, but he's very caring towards his friends.

Alex- she is a slight introvert. She can often be seen drawing, which is her greatest talent, and loves anime, a passion she shares with Wayne. Her dry sense of humor seems mean at first, but once you get to know her she is very sweet.

Butch- he can be quite big-headed and cocky at times, and he is terrible and talking about his feelings, but he is fiercely loyal to his friends. He is always getting into fights, which Maya constantly scolds him for.

Bartholamew- "Mew," as they call him, is the country boy. He is hilarious, watches cartoon network, and loves shooting his gun. He also loves his dog. He can seem kind of reckless at times, but it's his carefree spirit that his friends admire about him.

Jonathan- he, like Maya, is very well rounded in most things. He loves older classic rock music and he is very feminine for a boy. He gets a hard time for it, but Rose, Alex, and Maya love to get his fashion advice. His girlfriend is Alex.
