Shadow’s POV

Right after turning the corner, Shadow quickly merged with the darkness in the alley.  He watched quietly as Ali left before reemerging from the shadows a few minutes later.  He still wasn’t quite sure why he’d helped her the night before, but he was beginning to think it was worth it.  She was definitely an interesting person…

“Maybe I can spend some more time around her…” he mused.  ‘Well I did just get my freedom back, and going back home would surely result in them finding me…. might as well have a little fun while I stay here.’  Shadow grinned slightly.   He trudged down the road, deciding he might as well go and find Ali.  After all, he really didn’t have much else to do.

He looked up at the overcast sky and smiled a bit.  He was glad it wasn’t one of those obnoxiously bright days.  He couldn’t stand the sun shining down as if it were trying to blind him and everyone else in the world.  He preferred darkness and the shade.

As he walked down the road he glanced to the side and noticed someone giving him a dirty look.  He smirked at him, then chuckled at the guy’s enraged expression.  He only grew more amused when the guy got up and began making his way over to him.  Sure, the guy was bigger than Shadow, but that didn’t matter one bit.  He actually found it pretty hilarious how tough these people thought they were till he beat them.

‘But I can’t make a scene now… At least not for a while,’ he thought with a sigh.  Causing to much commotion would alert the people looking for him to his position and he really didn’t want to deal with them.  It wasn’t too hard if only one or two of them came, but any more and it became a problem.  He was disrupted from his thoughts by a hand roughly grabbing his collar and lifting him off the ground.

“Can a help you?” he asked, with a fake smile.  The burly man’s face scrunched up into an ugly scowl.

“You sure got some attitude boy,” he grunted, his voice rough.

“Oh?  I do?” The man, apparently getting fed up pulled his other fist back, ready to punch him in the face when Shadow suddenly disappeared from his grip.

“W-wha?” Shadow reformed from the man’s shadow behind him, kicking the man in the back, sending him stumbling forward.

“You little rat! I’m gonna kill you!” he shouted, his whole face turning red.

“Good luck with that,” Shadow chortled, running off in the direction he’d originally been going.  The man gave chase but couldn’t keep up and it only took a few minutes to completely lose sight of him.  Shadow slowed down to a walking pace and shook his head, chuckling a bit more.  That had been quite entertaining.  As he walked, his thoughts began to drift back to his destination and he came to a realization.  I don’t know where she lives.

He stopped walking, his eyebrows furrowing.  Well that was a problem.  He couldn’t exactly go and see he didn’t know where she lived.  I guess I’ll just have to look around and find her.  He sighed.  This could take a while…
