People with a monochromatic vision, those who can only see the world in the shade of gray, are called Mono. 

We're different from those who have total color blindness. Our cone cells aren't impaired, but our brains can't distinguish the colors. 

We are able to see colors if we meet someone special, and that person, who opens up the world of colors, is known as a Probe.

The issue is that it's very rare for a Mono and Probe to meet, and in some cases, there are people who never get the chance.

Monos show strong obsession towards Probes because they worry they will loose the ability to see colors again, and their obsession results in crimes. It's only right for Monos and Probes to never meet another.

It's the harsh truth, and I'm aware what kind of monster I would turn into. So I pray that I never meet my Probe.

My mom and I live alone. If I ended up telling you what happened to my father, I'm afraid it'd bore you to death.

They call me Hyunwoo. It's fitting, seeing as though it's my name. My mom's name is Haeryeong, and it's always been just us two. Tomorrow is the first day of school and my second year of high school.

You're so lucky, you know. You get to skip to tomorrow while I have to sit through my mother's lecture. 'Make sure you don't flirt with any girls and focus on your studies!'

It's not like a girl would be interested in a Mono as myself. 

But that's just how the world works. Probes are scared of Monos. That's how it will always be.
