The inside of the house was massive, compared the exterior. The living room had a couch big enough to sit five people comfortably. Two chairs sat on either aide of the couch with a grand oak coffee table. A giant flat screen hung above a stone fireplace. End tables were on either side of the couch and chairs. There were more end tables that sat in the four corners of the room, vases of flowers on each of their shiny surfaces.

We passed by that to a dining room with a large mahogany table. It had eight chairs on either side and one on each end. An elegant chandelier hung above it directly in the center. Like the living room, end tables sat in the four corners of the room with vases filled with flowers.

As we went by that, we came to the kitchen. It was a blinding white. Everything looked new from the two stoves to the hanging pots and pans. People bustled around, preparing dinner.

Connor led me up the stairs, which were carpeted by a black rug. We made it to the top floor where I was greeted by my Mate's scent. I looked over to the source, seeing him standing in a doorway with a smile on his face.

Connor cleared his throat and I looked back at him, following him to a pair of medium sized white double doors. He opened them and I walked in, feeling my breath hitch.

The room was immaculate. A four poster bed sat up straight against the wall in the middle of the room. Two end tables on each side had a lamp and one had an alarm clock. A door on the left led to a private bathroom. On the right were windows that went floor to ceiling. There was a walk in closet opposite the bed, with a vanity set and mirror next to it. A couple of decorative pictures hung on the white walls. The carpet under my feet was a plushy lavender color.

"This is beautiful."

"Its going to be your room, for the time being," Lawrence said behind me. I turned to face him, shocked. "Until you get used to it. Qmd graduate."

He and I hadn't even discussed the conditions of my living here since we came in. He had been too busy staring at Addelynn's bag, as though I was smuggling drugs. I nodded at him and went to the bed where Connor had set my things. I looked at him again. His entire frame filled the doorway. I put my head down and looked back at my things. I only brought a few things. Pictures, some clothes, shoes, toiletries. The important things, really.

"Misty."

I looked up at him. "Yes, Alpha?"

He thinned his lips and sighed, coming further into the room. "Call me Law."

"Law?"

"Connor's called me that for years. I want you to, as well."

I looked down and pulled out an old quilt. It had been my sister's. Shed treasured this, and now I did too. I went everywhere with it. Mainly sleepovers. He reached out to touch it. His fingers only grazed it but I yanked it away from him.

I looked up at him. His eyes were hard now. His mouth was still thinned and he looked...scary. My heart fell and I looked away again.

"I..."

"Don't worry about it."

I shivered. His voice was harsh. I took in a deep breath and nodded, keeping my head down.

I heard them head for the door. "I'll let you get comfy," Lawrence said. Before he shut the door, I looked up. Connor had already left. He looked at me with that same cold stare. "We'll go over the conditions tomorrow. Shower and get ready. We're hosting a party tonight for your arrival."

He left, closing the door. I looked at it for only a moment before I went back to unpacking. I pulled out a few clothes and laid them carefully on the bed. I pulled out picture frames with steady hands, looking at each of them. All the smiles and laughs.
