"Your soon-to-be husband looks very handsome, Mrs Kim," one of the maids says and politely smiles at the woman.

"Yes, he is handsome."

"And he also looks rich. You probably won't have to work a day in your life, ma'am," the second one makes eye contact with the young woman, while she is finishing her beautiful white dress.

"Probably."

"And he looks very kind. I am sure you will be happy with him," the third one, who is brushing Jin's hair says.

"Yes, he does."

Jin is looking at herself in the mirror, staying still for the maids to do their job comfortably. She touches the beautiful chiffon on her skirt and rubs it between her fingertips. If she weren't so sad, she would feel beautiful.

"I still remember the day that we met like it was yesterday."
Jin smiled at me, "Really?"
I held her hand and replied, "Yes. I remember how my heart stopped beating for a second and how, when you smiled at me, goosebumps covered my body. I couldn't get you out of my head ever since then."
She played with the half-empty glass in her hand, "I know how much I didn't want to go there because I hated - and I still do - the whole idea. But you made the evening so much better. You and the food."
I giggled, my eyes not leaving hers.

Jin's brother walks in, closing the door behind him and everyone turns to the sound. He walks in and looking at his sister, his jaw almost drops.

"Wow, Yeojin. You really rock it."

The woman smiles faintly, "Thank you, Hoseokie."

"Oh c'mon," he walks closer and sits down near the working maids, watching his sister. Jin looks back into the mirror.

From someone else's perspective, it might look that she is studying her face or controlling her make-up, but that is far from the truth. She is deep in her own mind, contemplating every decision of hers that has let to this moment.

Jin's lips met the wine glass and she tilted her head back, the red liquid flowing into her mouth. She gazed at me, both excitement and love in her eyes. I smiled, stroking her hand with my thumb.
This was a particularly sad day, but right now, I didn't want to think about the wedding which would take place tomorrow. I wanted to be present to see Jin smile and laugh and to feel the happiness in my chest that blooms within.

"Is everything ready?" she asks after a moment of silence in the room. Hoseok nods.

"You know our mother. Everything is per-fect," he giggles. Jin breathes out, straightening the invisible creases in her skirt.

"What do you call a can opener?"

"What?"

"A can't opener."

Jin chuckles, but the smile disappears as soon as it emerges. Hoseok pouts.

"You always laugh at that. You nervous?"

The woman looks through the mirror at him and nods slightly, although it is a lie. She breathes out, her chest falling, showing off her perfect collar bones.
