"Hey look, there's Riley!"
"I heard that she cussed at Mrs. Krupp today."
"Did she really say that?"
"She's got some guys to be screaming at Mrs. Krupp!"Man, everything spreads around this school so quickly. No I didn't cuss at a teacher, I didn't really say stuff like that. Every time someone gets a juicy bit of information around here they've got to twist it around and make it sound awful. Would it really hurt them to tell the truth?
"Hey, Riles, I heard that you had a big falling out with Mrs. Krupp."
"You don't have to say that, Alex, I didn't have a 'falling out' with her."
"Well, that's what everyone is saying." My friend Alex always went along with what every one else was talking about, it didn't matter if she knew it wasn't true. You'd think she'd be smarter than that considering she got straight A+'s and was on the honor roll every year.
"It's not true. I just walked out of the room, nothing happened."
"Say what you want, Riley. I'll see you at basketball practice today, okay?"
"Fine."
"Remember, Riles, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
