5 years has passed since the title of Hashira was passed to new powerful demon slayers. The present ones represents the 7th generation of protection against monsters under Muzan.
Up until now even the highest ranking demon slayer leaders still haven't layed a look on the evil master's appearance so they don't know if he or she is real or not, but judging how the demons that they killed says their master's name as their last words, there is no mistake, they're real.
Hashiras or Pillars get their places when their predecessors retired or died. Of course before that happens they're already specially trained by their past Hashira masters before they parted but the minority gets chosen to be one because of their individual skills.
like their name, hashiras are the best of the best among the demon slayers and can easily fight when they accidentally engage into an enemy. Usually, they're assigned into a mission if a demon is a part of the 12 demon moons, past mortals that Muzan scouted personally.
But even though they're the best of the best, the percentage of them being killed by those demon moons mostly the upper moons that lived and fought for more than a hundred years are still very high.

Fire Hashira: Park Jihyo
Insect Hashira: Im Nayeon
Snake Hashira: Son Chaeyoung
Mist Hashira: Miyoui Mina
Stone Hashira: Yoo Jeongyeon
Sound Hashira: Hirai Momo
Love Hashira: Kim Dahyun
Wind Hashira: Minatozaki Sana
Water Hashira: Chou Tzuyu

(Omg it's exactly 9 and I know you really want Sana to be the Snake Hashira but I really don't know how Snake Hashiras work sooo... and btw this is a different era than the current known demon slayers like Tanjiro still isn't a thing here lol)

It's a normal day for the demon slayers and they carry missions as usual.
But this is not the case for the Hashiras, they carry double and maybe triple times the missions given to a normal demon slayer and if they're done, they still have to train and get stronger and only then they could rest.

Mina looked at the demon while his eyes glew red and didn't say anything, her face didn't even flinched a bit after the demon said that, she's still as calm and cold as usual.
