Chrysie's Crisis | 1

"Mom, Dad, I'm home," I said sarcastically as I entered the place I dread to call home, home is where love is but there's no love for me under this sheltered roof.

I walked into my room, threw my graduation clothes aside and threw myself on the bed, today is my graduation day and guess what, none of my family is there to watch my proud moment, instead they went to dinner together, apparently that dinner is important than their daughter's graduation

I said and sat up, I should refresh myself and don't worry about unimportant things. I walked near the dressing table and saw a girl in the mirror, I looked beautiful. I inherited my black hair from my dad and none from my mother, to be honest, I look nothing like her, my green eyes are probably from my grandmother, at least that's what my dad said.

I'm considered attractive, big bosoms and curvy butt, moderately tall, I'm probably around 5'4, I'd always have boys hitting on me, but I never dated.

I sighed and entered the bathroom, my mind filled up with so many thoughts about my future, I just finished my high school, I'll be going to college and study business management

I heard muffled yelling outside the door as I exited the bathroom, it seemed like dad's shouting. I decided to stay in the room and make no noise, that's the best option for me.

"I DON'T WANT TO MARRY HIM, DAD! I LOVE SOMEONE ELSE" I heard Beatrice shout and then I heard a bang, someone got slapped, by the hmph I listened it must be Beatrice. Curiosity got the best of me and I exited my room, I saw my mom crying on the sofa, it's weird she always makes me cry but now she's crying, Beatrice is one the floor with a reddened cheek, Dad looks angry, a bit scary too.

"Please father I beg you" Beatrice whimpered, I felt pity for her. She was never rude to me nor she was kind, unlike mother who loves to feed herself by tormenting me

"Oh Jake don't hurt the poor girl," said Mr Holsman as he entered our house, dad didn't greet him like he usually does but he shook his head and sat next to mother

"I don't know what to do Mason," dad said as he rested his head on his palms, Mason Holsman, my family's legal advisor, the man I know with whom my mom's having a secret affair with.

"What exactly happened Jake?"

"I promised the crimson's that I'd give them my daughter if they help us with the bankruptcy"

We were bankrupt?

"Charles Crimson doesn't like it when promises weren't fulfilled, he's ruthless. I promised to marry his son with my daughter if they help us during bankruptcy, now this bitch is claiming that she'd rather die if she doesn't get married to her stupid lover" father spoke with a venomous glare at Beatrice, she trembled under his eyes.

"I don't know what I should do now Mason!" Though dad never was kind of lovely to me, he's still my dad, it's sad to see him in this state.

I didn't realise that I accidentally stumbled upon the vase while eavesdropping, all of the eyes in the room are now on me, Nervousness crept into me, my family isn't really kind. They all stare at me with disgust and anger, suddenly mother's eyes lit.

"Honey let's send Chrysanthe in place of Beatrice!" Mother said as she holds my dad's arm, dad lifted his head and looked at her

"What if they-"

"They wouldn't find out," said Holsman as he interrupted my dad, my dad stared at his feet for a while and said

"We make sure they wouldn't find out"

"What do you mean Father? What is happening?" I managed to question out my concern

"Nothing my lovely daughter, its time for you to get married!" He emphasised the word daughter with disgust as he looked at me

"But I'm just 18" I yelled, tears began to spill out. They are marrying me off with my consent, I know they hated me but I never thought they'd get rid of me this way.

"Let's make a deal Chrysanthe, I know how much you wanted to study business management, but if you marry I'd give you college fees so you can study even if you don't have permission from your husband

But if you don't agree, I will sell you off to a human trafficker and your life will never be alright"

I crumpled down on the floor, they are getting rid of me, My dad, My family confirmed his hatred by his horrible words

"I take your silence as approval Chrysanthe" I sat quietly on the ground, I don't know what to do or how to react.

"Now Mason, we gotta go and wipe some evidence off. Let's leave" Dad took one last glance at me and left the house with Holsman

My mind ran in different directions, If I leave and marry into the crimsons household, I'd be safe at least. If not, I would probably better off dying.

I closed my eyes, maybe the crimson's wouldn't be bad, maybe maybe this can be a blessing in disguise, maybe I can be loved at last.

"Be grateful you stupid bitch" I heard my mother shout, she called me bitch so many times that younger me believed it was my name

"I and your father gave you so much and raised you like a rich brat, you better at least lay us pack this way.

You will be getting married soon, you are from Lorenzo household and you better don't embarrass us!" My mom shouted at me, I was expecting a kick or two but surprised I got nothing

"Beatrice follow me to my room" mother walked past me towards her office room, Beatrice started walking after mother vanished into the room, she suddenly stopped next to me

"Thank you" she quietly whispered and scurried to the room, this is the first time she talked to me in nearly 5 years

Though mother bullied me since I can remember, Beatrice never joined with her but she didn't stop her either. She used to laugh at me when we were very young but it stopped soon. If I ever had anything relatively close to kindness in my life then it's from her

I closed my eyes, maybe this is my destiny after all, I never belonged in the Lorenzo household and I guess it's time for me to leave this place.

I slowly entered my room and threw myself on the bed, hoping everything would be a nightmare after I wake up but I know it's not at all useful to be hopeful.
