Me, Him and Her

Chapter 1

Bang! I ran inside to the cot in which my baby lay sleeping I picked her up quickly my heart pounding how long until they get here? Will I make it on time? I ran out of the house and down to the underground hut in the back paddock Bang! Bang! I tuned as I got to the hidden door of the hut and saw that the men searching for me had now lost sight of me and my baby. I hurried inside the hut swinging the door shut quietly behind me, we were safe, for now. I looked around the hut there was a small table and two chairs sitting to one side there were three buckets and some utensils and there was a fire place and some wood stacked in the corner. When I had the cover of darkness I would sneak back up to the house to fetch some blankets and some matches and anything else I saw the could be useful. Thud thud thud! Thud thud thud! Someone was on top of the hut, then I heard a voice calling "she's under here, her and her baby" shit! They've found me! I thought. I hugged my baby close to my breast as I waited for them to break down the door, then after a minute or two the door slowly swung open.
A broad shouldered strong and very attractive man walked into the hut "Rebecca you can't run away from him any longer you know that you must marry Jack and raise the child together" he said as he studied my body from head to toe "I will do no such thing and you know it William! I would never raise Jane with that man! I will raise her myself with no male at my side!" I said spitefully "Jack has given you another option that you marry me instead and we raise Jane together but give him the next baby that you give birth to" William said looking at the soft face of the sleeping Jane. I looked at him aghast me marry him instead?! I paused, thinking, then i looked up into his face and said sternly "if you and your men leave me now and return at exactly midday tomorrow then I will give you your answer" William looked satisfied "if that is all you wish Rebecca then certainly I will return tomorrow" William turned and walked out of the door with a smile. I sat down on one of the chairs and stared into Janes face as my eyes welled up with tears.
