"You want me to what?"

"You want me to what?"

"Talk to Niko for me." Lenore declared with a shrug.

"What are we, five years old?" I groaned, wishing I'd ordered two burgers.

"Right, so we can sit head to the party—"

"Fine! I'll talk to Niko. But don't hold your breath. He's a serial womaniser and you're after forever." I warned.

Lenore beamed, pulling in front of the store.

"Off you go. Grab me some candy!"

"Quit your hollering!"

I pushed open the doors to the brightly lit store, sending a half assed smile to the guy behind the register. I grabbed a bag of chips and stacks of candy before dumping it on the counter.

"Crazy night planned, huh?"

I frowned, then the cashier waved his hand at the candy and chips.

"Oh, yeah. I've got the munchies."

"Are you high?" The guy asked, peering at me with curiosity.

"Nope."

"You're pretty."

Uh-oh.

"Thanks."

"I'd love to take you out sometime."

Now I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover, but this guy radiated desperation. I glanced at his peeling name badge, to see the word 'Chris.'

"Sorry Chris, I've got a boyfriend." I smiled apologetically, as he bagged my items painfully slowly.

"Oh, well I guess that makes sense. All the pretty girls always do, ain't that right pal?"

Chris The Cashier nodded over my shoulder as I turned to see an older guy grunt in response, leering at me.

"Boyfriends don't mean shit."

I smacked down a twenty dollar bill and grabbed the bag, mentally hurrying Chris along.

"What's a boyfriend anyway? Just regular sex ain't it? No such thing as love," the guy behind me continued, as I grabbed my change.

He has a point, though.

"What took you so long?" Lenore exclaimed, twisting the lipstick in her hands away.

"Cashier asked me out." I held out a candy bar. "What do you want me to say to Niko?"

"That I wanna sit in his face?"

"Alright."

Lenore shot me a look.

"Don't you fucking dare."

"I'll say... my hot blonde friend needs a good—"

"Nova! I'm a good Christian girl." Lenore struggled to hold a straight face. "But he could tempt me into sin, him or his best bud."
