AUTHOR'S NOTE

I'm not a professional writer, so my stories are going to be mediocre. So I'm sorry if they end up being either not that good or just flat out cringe. I'm hoping I can improve at some point. I'm also going to work on this story at my own pace. So don't expect frequent updates.

[Ring... ring...]

"heya. anyone there? ...no answer, huh? well, i'll leave a message then."

"it's been a long time since you've been here." Sans said, holding his phone up to his nonexistent ear. A time has passed since the last human came through the Underground. Devastation followed through, leaving the kingdom in sorrow. "a lot of stuff has happened. and uh... it wasn't pretty."

Sans started to pace as he talked. As surprising as it may be, the skeleton felt unease as he left his message for the human. "a lot of monsters lost their lives, causing a panic. and with asgore gone, it only made the situation worse." He then falls silent for a moment, thinking of what to say next. "that is, until red stepped in. she offered to be asgore's replacement as ruler. she wouldn't take no for an answer either. i mean, i admire her dedication, but... she's still pretty young. ruling a kingdom isn't a walk in the park, y'know?"

Red has always been one of Undyne's best guards. But, with Undyne gone, the Royal Guard had no one to lead them. They felt lost and afraid, just like the rest of the Underground. Red especially was affected by this tragedy, as the two shared a close bond. "she really wants to make everybody happy." Sans continued as he paced back and forth. "but, with asgore and the human souls gone, and with a lot of innocent lives lost, everyone's having a hard time keeping their hopes up. red tries her best to keep everyone happy. the whole situation's got her stressed out though. but i try my best to help her in any way i can."

Sans falls silent again, and lets out a small sigh. "y'know... she misses her friends. especially undyne," he said. "the two of them were very close. one could even say they were like family in a way. undyne was the source of red's grit and determination. but now, red seems less motivated than before."

Thinking back, he realizes just how much he misses his late friends as well. Toriel, Undyne, Asgore, Mettaton, and...

He snaps out of his daze, realizing he's been quiet for longer than he thought. "ah, whoops. this phone's low on battery. i'll make this quick." The skeleton closes his eye(sockets), and takes in a breath. "red has sworn that any human that falls will be treated as enemies. so, uh, it's best if you don't come back. i hope you're satisfied with your ending. ...nah, just kidding."

Sans's eyes grow blank as a sudden, yet slight, aggressive tone enters through, to which he mutters "Go to hell."

Sans lets out a heavy sigh as he puts his phone in his pocket. What exactly has driven the human to do this? Was it something the Monsters did? Something they said? Or was this for their own sick, twisted pleasure? Oh well. At least they won't be seen again, right?
