A young hylian man, maybe 19, walks through an icy cave, holding a device very similar to a sheikah slate, mostly covered in colder-weather gear, pulling his hood down. He stares at the map on the screen, before hearing a crash and a scream off to his right, down further in the cave. The man immediately clips the slate to his belt and runs off towards the commotion.

A young hylian girl, of similar age to the man, lays beaten on the ground as two green moblins go in for the kill. The hylian girl had no energy left to fight, expecting to parish, either from her wounds or from the moblins, but just before she passed out, she saw a heavily armed man leap and slam into the moblins, knocking them away…

The hylian man emerges from the cave, carrying the hylian woman down the mountain towards help.

The man burst through the doors to the hospital in the town at the base of the mountain. “This woman needs help!” He said as two doctors rushed to aid. “What happened?” One of the doctors asked, transferring the girls arm to himself, leading her to a medical bed. “She was attacked by two green moblins…” The man answered, pulling down his mask and hood, his cape only partially covering his sword and his shield. “Two? No wonder the poor lass got overwhelmed… Thank you, sir.” “Don’t worry about it! I wasn’t just going to let her die.” “No, I suppose a traveler like you wouldn’t.” The hylian man stayed at the hospital until the doctors were certain the girl would survive, before the man gave his goodbyes and left, heading straight back for the mountain cave, a quest of his own to complete, a self imposed one, at least.

A few days later, the hylian girl finally woke. Confused, and terrified, she kept from her bed. “Hey, there, what’s wrong?” The doctor asked, sitting at a desk filing paperwork. “Where am I…?” The girl asked, slowly calming down, realizing she was no longer in danger. “You’re at the hospital near the base of Mt. Chilzoa, you were brought in by a young man, not much older than you I don’t think.” The doctor replied. “A… Young man?” She flashed back to her last memory before passing out. “Do you know where he went?” The girl asked. “He stayed until you weren’t on death’s door and left back for the mountain, and that’s the last I saw of him. Are you two acquainted?” The doctor asked, turning his head towards the girl. “Acquainted? No… I guess I was just lucky he showed up in time to save me… Still, I feel I should thank him.” The girl sat back down at the foot of the bed. “I would suggest you stay here and recover for at least one more day before you go anywhere. It’s still freezing cold down here in town, even if we aren’t very high up.” The doctor turned back to his paperwork, and the girl gave no protest.

The hylian man hid desperately behind a large icy pillar, an old guardian stuck in the ice looked around, trying to target him. The guardian had already broken one of his shields, and the man didn’t want to lose another. “Ahg… What’s that thing doing here? How’d it even get here?” He whispered. He doubted he would be able to take a guardian shot straight on, he’d have to deflect it back… He readied another shield, and slowly dived out from behind the pillar, holding the shield up as the guardian prepared to shoot at him. The hylian man held his breath as the guardian fired. Ba-bump. His heart raced as the beam shot towards him. Ba-bump. Time almost seemed to slow as the adrenaline coursed through him. Ba-bump. He motioned his arm, ready to try and hit the beam. Ba-bump. He swung his arm just as the beam reached him, deflecting right back into the eye of the defective guardian, and he watched as the guardian overloaded. He sighed and fell to his knees. “Damned things…”

The girl found her way to the cave once more, cautiously walking through, only to find many monster bodies and purple blood everywhere, but the worrying thing was the occasional splats of red blood, the same color as a hylian’s blood, and as far as she knew, there was only one other hylian in these caves.

The hylian man set a wood bundle on the ground and ignited it with a piece of flint, and laid down next to the fire, setting his royal broadsword next to himself. He laid his head back and tried to relax, which should have been easy with how tired he was, but unfortunately he was also in a lot of pain, which caused him to be unable to sleep. After laying there for around twenty minutes, he head footsteps start approaching. He snatched up his sword and stood up, managing to keep his balance. “Who’s ther- Oh, it’s you… Wait, it’s you?” He lowered his sword. “What are you doing back here… It’s a tad bit dangerous here.”

“I wanted to come thank you for saving me, but it seems like you’re the one who needs saving now…” the girl responded. “Didn’t you bring anything to heal yourself with?”

“Yeah, I did bring healing stuff… I just didn’t realize that this cave would be so hard to traverse… Then there was that guardian stuck in the ice… But at least he offered me a bit of a shortcut.”

The girl sighed and shook her head. “Why is everyone so reckless these days?” She whispered to herself. “If I might ask, what are you doing here?”

“Me? I’m looking for something important… I just hope it’s actually here and that I didn’t come here just for another stupid clue… Anyway, what were you doing here? Before those moblins, I mean.” He asked as he tried sitting down as casually as possible, but it was clear that he was very tired.

“I was looking for a rare mineral that only appears here. Now come on, let’s get out of here. Like you said, it’s dangerous.”

He chuckled and shook his head. “No, I don’t think I’ll leave just yet… I’ve still got something to find, remember? Besides, what does it matter to you?”

“What does it matter to me? It’s simple, you saved me, and now, I’m going to return the favor. Then we can both be on our way.”
