"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Coming for to carry me home."This couldn't be happening.....
There was so much they had planned.... So many places for them to see.....
Their daughter would never get a chance to meet the man who adored her very existence......
What did she do to deserve this? As tears ran down her cheek, holding her son and her belly simultaneously, Alahni watched as they lowered her husband's casket into the ground, a lifetime fear made a reality as she said goodbye to the man she always loved the most.
First her mother, then her father and siblings, and now her husband. It was as if life didn't care too see her happy at all. As soon as things got good, they crashed and burned. Why couldn't she keep everything she worked so hard to maintain?
"I looked over Jordan and what did I see
Coming for to carry me home
A band of angels coming after me
Coming for to carry me home."MaKiah stood off to the side with Delonte and their children, her heart aching for her best friend and her godchildren. This was something she didn't wish on her worst enemy. This was something she thought life would never throw at them until YEARS from now.
But she also knew that this was completely unavoidable.
She knew it had to be done.
And she knew that it was almost time for things to fall into capable hands..... her hands, to be exact.
She hated the fact that she had to hurt her best friend, and ultimately destroy life as they all knew it. However, she had worried about everyone else's feelings for too long. It was her time now, and she was going to get what she deserved one way or another.

(Three Days Later...)
Alahni pulled up to the insurance building shortly before the time she was asked to be there. She had just buried her husband three days ago, and the initial shock and burden of it all was still weighing heavy on her. She couldn't believe she was left alone in this world without her life partner and best friend. Besides MaKiah and Delonte, she had nobody but her children.
Alahni pulled herself together, wiping the tears that had made a permanent residence in her eyes, stepped out of the car, and walked towards the entrance. A man opened the door for her, seeing that she was visibly pregnant, and she silently thanked him with her eyes as she walked past him. Justine, the woman who handled all of their financial planning, was waiting outside of her office for Alahni to arrive. "Good morning, Mrs. Childs. Again, I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband, and I'll do my best to relieve any stress you may be experiencing at this time." Alahni stayed silent, subtly nodding her head and giving Justine a small smile in return, thanking her for the kind words.
They both walked into the office and sat down across from each other at the desk. "What Im doing now is opening the file that you and your husband shared and going through all of the information just to give you a run down of how the process works in the insurance industry. We already have his death certificate uploaded and processed, and so once we get through the logistics of things and get the paperwork signed, we can proceed with the insurance payment." Justine continued to explain the process while Alahni sat there staring off into space, still not accepting of the fact that she was actually in this office to talk about getting money from her now deceased husband. Everything wasn't making sense, but she decided to pay attention just in case Justine was saying something super important.
"......Mrs. Childs?" Alahni snapped her head in Justine's direction, slightly alarmed by the tone in her force, which was that of sheer confusion. "Is there a problem, Justine?" Her face was plastered to the screen, not comprehending what was displayed before her. "Umm..... well, it seems that there may be some kind of misunderstanding.... You aren't listed as Roman's wife. In fact, your name isn't listed anywhere on this policy. Your children are listed as beneficiaries, however they cannot access the money until their 18th birthdays, at which they would be of age and would each receive 25% of the one million dollar policy." Justine's words jumbled together as Alahni sat and tried to process what she just told her. Not listed as Roman's wife?! They had been married for almost 6 years! She went and changed her name at the courthouse, changed her name on all of her important policies and documents, even changed her name on her emails at work!
"There has to be some sort of mistake. How is this even possible?!" Alahni was started to become enraged at the possibilities of what could have happened, but all she wanted to know was the truth. Then, realization hit her. "Wait a minute..... you said that my children would only be receiving 25% each. Why isn't it split 50/50?!" Justine began typing away on her computer, searching for an answer. Suddenly, her hands froze over the keyboard, and once again confusion was left on her face. "Oh my God..... there's someone else listed as the primary beneficiary on the policy. And it's not you." "Well then WHO IS IT?! Who could he possibly leave that money to besides his wife?!" Alahni was beyond pissed. She was absolutely livid! The man that she loved, the man that she thought loved her, the one who she gave her everything to and gave her all for, managed to destroy her life, even in death. "I don't recognize the name on the policy, but maybe you know who it is?" Justine turned her laptop towards Alahni, who focused on the highlighted part of the policy revealing the name of the primary benficiary.
"No way.......... MAKIAH?!?!?!"
