"I'll take a nitro cold brew, please. Large."
Okuyasu grabbed his wallet of his bag, not noticing the concerned look on the baristas face.
"Name?"
"Okuyasu."
"You know it's 8 pm right?..."
They muttered, scribbling the name inevitably misspelled on the cup.
Okuyasu just shot them a tired gaze."Ah I see. Long night ahead?"
"Yep,"
He handed them the money and walked over to a booth in the corner, reaching in the side pocket of his bag and pulling out a can of monster energy.--
A couple minutes later the barista brought over his drink, noticing the monster.
"Geez dude are you trying to have a heart attack? You know how much caffeine is in these things right?"
He gestured to the cold brew.
"Technically we aren't even supposed to sell it in a large, you just looked like you needed it."Okuyasu gave him a tired smile,
"Thanks, I do need it. Still not enough though,"
He chugged the last of his drink.
"I've been awake for two days straight.""Shit man..."
The barista leaned over to whisper in his ear,
"Yo are you like... good? This isn't a cry for help or anything is it?"Okuyasu chuckled,
"I appreciate the concern but nah it's nothing like that.""Oh,"
They said straightening up.
"What is it like then?"
They had known this man for less than 10 minutes but something about him was... intriguing to say the least."Oh it's ju-"
"Josuke get back to work! You still have half an hour of your shift left!"
The barista groaned.
"Dammit. Sorry that's my hardass manager Rohan. I fuckin hate that guy."
They muttered.
"But hey uh you'll be here for a while right?"Okuyasu nodded.
"Cool, 'cause I still gotta know what the hell's goin on with you, Mr. Caffeine Addiction."
"You've already given me a nickname?"
Okuyasu smirked, or at least tried to. He was really tired at this point he had no idea what facial expression he was actually making."Yep!-"
"Josuke!"
"God I'm comin' already! Sheesh no one's even here..."
Pouting, they slumped back over behind the counter, which Okuyasu couldn't help but find a little endearing.--
The 30 minutes had felt like an eternity, with Josuke's prediction that there wouldn't be any more customers coming to pass.
"Alright Higashikata, shift's over. Hurry up and clock out 'cause I ain't payin' you overtime."
Josuke rolled their eyes and got up, clocking out and throwing their apron into their backpack. Right before they were about to leave they remembered that guy from earlier. "Fuck, what was his name?", they thought, looking over to the booth where the man appeared to conked out hard. A brilliant idea popped into their mind.
