ATER ONE LATE DINNER, ROME CLIMBS INTO BED TO SHOW ME THE FOOTAGE OF CHRISTIAN'S PRISION BREAKOUT. The video starts out clear as day. A building composed of black bricks and white glass stands in a foggy sky. Still and silent. I jump as a woman swoops into frame. With wings twice the size of her body, she lands onto one of the windows and attaches something to its side.

Guards shoot at her as she flies away. But the bullets activate the bomb and within the next second, the side of the permission blows up.

The camera cuts. When it comes back, static fills the edges and it repeatedly fades to back so Rome has to switch into another version. Now, we watch as the same woman flies in again. There are no more guards anymore. She pulls out a man with a hollow expression, thin limbs, and a shallow surface of blonde hair. It's only when I see the tattoo on his forehead that I realize it's Christian.

"A super did help him," I rewind the tape. "But why?"

"Elliot went through several programs in order to get clearer pictures of her face. She's not in any database," Rome adjusts his posture so I fit better by his side. "However, the interesting part comes when you scroll down. Look closer. A part of her outfit tears from the blast - which shows that she hasn't bought from any official agency - and you can see her back."

Against her pale skin, long thing stitches join the wings to her bones. "They've been sewn on!"

"That's right," Rome turns to me, the lines of his face sharpened with sleepless nights and day-long missions. "This woman hasn't been born with the wings. It looks like made a pair for her to fly in. However, experts say that wings like that wouldn't be able to hold a typical human body up in the air - so she not only has the wings, but has gained the ability to fly with them as well."

"You think somebody gave her those abilities?" I ask. "Is that possible?"

"I don't know. We still have a lot of missing information," Looking trouble, Rome begins the process of permanently deleting the footage. "But if the theory is correct, it means we're seeing our first man-made super."
