CHAPTER ONE:

Hospital Visits

SEPTEMBER FIRST WAS ALWAYS AN EMOTIONAL DAY FOR LIVINIA ROWLE — and to say that she despised emotions was an understatement. While going to Hogwarts meant that Livinia could finally escape her evil father for a few months, it also meant that she'd have to deal with her vexing classmates and professors, and she couldn't seem to figure out which was worse.

Livinia had started to lose any hope she had for living a normal life. Her older brother, Alexander, who had just turned seventeen a few months prior, was to receive his very own Dark Mark in a matter of days. She was terrified for him, and Livinia knew that when he did receive it, the same will be expected of her only a year and a half later, and there would be no possible way for her to get out of it.

She was forbidden to even talk to her brother as Thorfinn was worried that she would taint Alexander's views on the situation. Livinia couldn't do anything to stop it, she was just a fifteen-year-old girl with a psychotic father and a brain-dead mother, and soon she would be at school with her only two friends who both had similar fates.

Livinia would always rise early on September first. She wouldn't be able to visit St Mungo's for another few months, so she always made sure to pay a visit to her mother and sister before leaving for Hogwarts, and her fifth year would be no different. She woke up well before Thorfinn and Alexander, not wanting either of them to try and talk her out of going as they did every year.

The girl quickly ate some fruit before going outside and picking a bunch of exquisite flowers from the gardens surrounding her family's manor. There were many types of flowers in the garden, from daisies, buttercups, daffodils, and roses — lots of roses in a vast array of colours. She kept the small arrangement of flowers simple, sticking mainly to the red and pink roses that her mother used to adore.

Once she was finished in the garden, she quietly headed back inside and headed straight to the fireplace in the living room. A bucket of floo powder rested on top of the mantle and Livinia filled a little pouch with some of the grey powder before placing it into the back pocket of her jeans so she could get back to the Rowle Manor. She then took a small handful of the powder, grimacing at the unpleasant feeling of the ash-like substance, and stepped into the large fireplace.

"St Mungo's hospital!" she said as she threw the floo powder in her hand onto the floor of the fireplace, mere seconds later she was engulfed by large green flames. Livinia spun faster and faster, her elbows tucked in tightly to her sides as blurred fireplaces flashed past her, she then felt herself slow down and she expertly stepped out of the St Mungo's fireplace.
