Kai woke up in deep pain. He clutched his head as his scar began to throb. He looked beside him on the giant bed to see his sister Nya curled up against him, her breathing was slow and steady.

Kai got up and looked around. The last time his scar hurt was because Voldemort was around. But he couldn't be here now, could he?

All he could hear was his sister's un-startled breath and his cousin snoring as if he was a pig.

Kai still rubbed a finger over his scar as it throbbed uncontrollably. He and Nya celebrated his birthday yesterday together without their aunt and uncle knowing.

She was the only intermediate family he had. And the nicest to be exact. Kai looked at his mirror and saw his scar looking completely normal. His spiky hair did it's normal thing while he looked thin but in shape in a way.

He always tried to get exercise without being caught but always gave his bigger portions of food to Nya because he knew she needed it more than he did.

He finally let go of the thoughts on his scar for a little bit and decided he would tell Nya tomorrow.

He climbed into bed and kissed his sister on her forehead as he lied his head down. She smiled in her sleep when he did and he grinned as his eyes won the battle for sleep.

The morning

Kai forcefully woke himself up knowing uncle Pythor would have his head if he didn't have breakfast ready by 5:00.

He felt Nya stir as she started to wake up and Kai quickly soothed her back to sleep.

He went downstairs to make the eggs but as he cracked the first egg onto the pan, he accidentally let his hand slip as he burned himself from the blazing heat of the pan.

He cried to himself as he found aunt May's first aid kit and wrapped a cooling bandage around his hand.

Kai heard shuffling down the stairs and knew that uncle Pythor was coming down. Kai swore silently as he quickened his pace.

"And what are you doing with that?" Asked uncle Pythor as Kai reached for the aching cream for his hand.

"I uh—uh" Kai stuttered as he tried to get the words out. Uncle Pythor scowled. "Is my breakfast ready yet?"

Kai's eyes widened as he forgot about the egg on the pan. He quickly got it off and nervously gave it to Uncle Pythor.

"What is this?" He asked. Kai looked ashamed and looked at his feet. Uncle Pythor scoffed and said coldly, "no dinner for you tonight."

Kai winced at the tone in his voice and shuffled upstairs. He lay his head down on the silk pillow and started to close his eyes.

2 hours later

"Kai?" Nya asked. Kai opened his eyes to a blinding light. Nya was sitting on the bed and rubbing his shoulder.

"What time is it?" Kai asked confused on how long he slept. "7:00." Nya said soothingly. "Are you okay? You never sleep that late." Asked Nya.

I wanted to tell her everything about the dream and my scar but something told me not to. I looked at my hand briefly and remembered the burn. I realized it was sore and really red underneath the clothe.

Nya saw me glance at my bandaged hand and before I could stop her, she unraveled the bandage and put a hand to her mouth.

"Oh my—Kai w-when did-?" She asked with sadness and fear in her eyes. I shook my head.

"It was just an accident with the stove." I said like everything was okay. But it hurt terribly.

She seemed to know I was hiding the hurt because of course. She's my sister. She knows everything.
