Sam POV

"See you tomorrow." Tyler said as we walked back from Joe's office. I just nodded and walked into my house. I could hear them talking in the kitchen.

"Sam!" Brandon yelled when he saw me. He ran to me and hugged me; I knew what happened today scared him.

"Hey." I said and hugged him back. The others didn't say anything, but I could see the worry in their eyes. "I'll just go change." My shirt had some of the guys blood on it. I walked upstairs and threw my hoodie on the floor before finding a new one. I sat on the bed, just to think about what had happened today.

There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Anna walked in and closed the door behind her.
"I just wanted to see if you were okay?"

"I'm fine." I smiled. I wasn't sure I was, but I didn't want to tell her that.
"Was he mad?" Anna asked, referring to Joe.

"Yeah." I said. "He called us stupid kids; I mean it's not like he's wrong." Anna didn't say anything, she just looked at me to continue. "We shouldn't have done that."

"But you saved that family."
"Yeah, but..." Anna cut me off and sat down beside me in the bed.

"No buts. You saved them and you are okay, that's all that matters." I didn't object and just let out a breath, she was right.

"Can I ask you something?" She asked. I nodded and looked at her. "How did I get to bed last night? The last thing I remember is talking to you in the kitchen." I chuckled.

"You hugged me on the stairs and fell asleep right there in my arms." I smiled at her. A blush appeared on her cheeks.

"I'm sorry." She whispered, still looking at her hand in her lap.
"I'm not." I said and she looked up at me and smiled.

Brandon came through the door before we could say more. "Can we go now?"

"Where are we going?" Anna asked and looked at both of us.
"The BBQ." I said and stood up. "We try and have it every Friday." Anna nodded and stood up.

We walked downstairs and the others were already ready. Brandon probably told them.
We walked out the house and over to the campfire just behind the hall. We met Tyler and Lucas on the way there.

"Hey guys." Lucas said. "I don't believe we've met." He introduced himself to the girls and Connor. When we got there, the first one we bumped into was Marc. And as expected, the first thing he said really showed how much of a jerk he was.

"Sam!" He smirked. "How come you haven't introduced me to these hot chicks?" She looked at Karina, Eva and Anna. Connor stepped in front of Eva and I did the same with Anna and Karina, even Brandon did.

"Because they don't need to know someone who calls them for hot chicks." I hissed. "That's just disrespectful and you know it."

"Come on Sammy." Marc started. "Just because you can't handle me, doesn't mean that they can't." I didn't get to say anything before Connor spoke.

"Don't talk about them like that." He hissed; I could see he was pissed.

"Yeah, don't speak to my sister like that." Brandon butted in. He had clearly met Marc before and knew he could be a jerk.

"Your sister?" Marc smirked. "You didn't tell me she was this hot." Unbelievable right? When I first met him, I was surprised the dogs hadn't taken him already. But I guess they know who taste better and who doesn't.

"Piss off Marc." I hissed.

"Why should I?" He questioned stupidly. "I can see that they want to get to know me."

"You remember what happened last time?" I raised my eyebrows. Panic showed in his eyes, it was obvious that he for a moment had forgot. He just turned around and left.

"Wow." Karina chuckled. "He seemed like an idiot." I nodded.

"He is. A lying, stupid idiot... and a jerk." I said as we sat down.

"Lying? So you don't think we are some hot chicks?" Karina asked, I could hear she was joking.

"No, I think you are all gorgeous and deserves to be treated with respect and not as an object. I hate the word hot." I answered seriously. I looked up at them and they were all smiling at me.

"That was really sweet." Karina gusted. "Thank you."

"It was true." I said and locked eyes with Anna. Her eyes told me everything without her saying a word. Those eyes are going to be the death of me one day, I already know that.

"I'm hungry." Brandon said, making Anna and I break eye contact.

"Of course you are." I chuckled, that boy can eat. We stood up and went to get some food and sat back down afterwards.

"What happened last time?" Connor asked. I lookedat him confused, not sure what he meant. "With Marc?" Tyler, Lucas and I all laughed.

"The dude got a bit handsy with Sam here and let's just say she taught him a lesson he won't forget." Tyler laughed.

"What did you do?" Karina asked. Lucas said it before I could.
"She left him in the middle of the city for a few hours." He chuckled. It sounds really cruel when you say it like that.

"That just sounds like I wanted him died." I said. Lucas looked at me like, didn't you? I chuckled.
"Okay, maybe I wouldn't have minded if a dog had nipped on him a bit." They all laughed.

"Why did you do it like that?" Eva asked seriously.

"Whenever we get a new guard, who has to go on field day, one of us who's already been it for a while, takes them out to show them where to go and whereto stay away from." I explained, they were all listening. "Unfortunately, I got Marc. He was more focused on trying to hook up with me, then to learn how to stay alive. So I did it to show him that all of this is not a joke." I finished.

"Good on you." Connor smiled. "I guess he got the picture, well almost."

"He still tries to hook up with me, so yeah only almost." I laughed.
"Gross." Anna chuckled. We all agreed.

"What does hook up mean?" Brandon asked. My eyes went wide and went straight to Anna. She just looked at me like; you brought it up, so you explain it.

"When you are older, you will get it." I smiled, not knowing what else to say. The others just laughed but didn't say more about the subject.
