5th Year ~ The Order of the Pheonix Era

As she stalked down the corridor with her head held high, many looks were thrown her way. They ranged, from looks of disgust and distaste to looks of admiration and awe.

As a Slytherin, Nova already had the younger years scared of her, hiding against the wall and jumping if she moved too fast. Yet there was something about her, something that seemed to be lurking just underneath her surface. And there was only a handful of people willing to risk it to find what it was, that is, if she even let them try. Fifteen and she'd already made an impressive record which ran through the school.

She eyed a younger student and started towards them.

"Boo!" She laughed at the terror caused on the younger students face, young children had never been a specialty of hers: no sort of maternal instinct or ability to treat them like younger siblings, that wire of hers just never seemed to — click.

"You're evil," Theo laughed behind her before apologising to the younger child on her behalf. He matched her stride easily.

"Hey stranger. Good summer?" Nova looked up at him, only 15 and he was already 5'8, taller than she was, one of her downfalls.

"Was quiet, spent it at Malfoy's with Blaise and Enzo as well: his mum's food is to die for. Didn't see his dad much so there's that." Theo reminisced almost dreamily.

"Maia is over there," Theo gestured to a group of girls huddled by the great hall doors.
"I'll get you a seat don't worry." He ruffled her hair before she walked over to Maia.

"Nova!"

"Alright Gin." She smiled at the ginger before she was wrapped up in a tight hug,
"Hello to you too, Maia" she laughed at the girl, who was acting like she hadn't seen her  in ages, when actually they'd been in the library together just this morning.

Maia wanted to start preparing for her O.W.L's — hanging out with Hermione had seemed to help her with that.

"Gin! Maia! Oooohh and a pretty friend!"

"Fred, shut up!" Maia laughed at the tall gingers antics.

"Pretty friend — what's your name?" The other twin questioned Nova. She smirked before answering,

"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours."

"Hear than George! Well I'm Fred, the better looking twin and that's George, the brains behind the works. He's also the youngest. " He smiled at Nova.

"Well I'm Nova, Maia's best friend and I think that means somehow I'll be seeing a lot more of you two." She presumed considering Ginny was the third to their duo and red hair shared between her and the twins only meant one thing.

She smiled again before walking towards the Slytherin table, sitting between Pansy and Theo.

Feeling at ease didn't come natural to her, living her earliest memories in an orphanage with very little ideas of what her childhood would have been like if she wasn't to have grown up in the Wood's household where something was always happening. She liked to be prepared for it, incase one day she wasn't and the outcome was the worst.

She wouldn't be willing to risk that, especially now she had a group who she was very happy to be a part of, she'd never admit that she was reliant on them.

Not to anyone else that is, but there was a part of her, a gap in her built up walls, which had a small crack. And the group was slowly chipping away at it, after 5 years.

She supposed she could allow herself that, she had the Woods as the family, including Oliver though now he'd left school to pursue quidditch, on the outside and now she had Maia, Pansy, Theo, Blaise and the twins as her friends on the inside. Comfortable, but she couldn't rest easy, not yet.
