"Danny, you're gonna be late!" Rachel yells. "I know! I know! Will you give me a minute?!" I yell back. It's been two years since mom died. I don't think I'm ready to let it go though... "DANIEL CARSON GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW OR YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE!"
"GIVE ME A MINUTE!!" I get my shoes on, grab my bag, and a pop-tart, and we leave.
I get on the bus and see my friends. "Hey, guy-" Delilah cuts me off. "Hey, Danny!!" I seriously don't know why she thinks we're dating. "Oh. Hi, Delilah. Remember what I said yesterday right?"
"Hmmm... no! I don't think so!" She's just playing dumb. I sigh. "Respect. My. Personal. Space. Think you can remember that?" I make my way past her. "Hey, guys!" I wave and walk to them. "Hey, Danny!" Elie says. "Hey. What's up?" Jackson respectfully nods hello. "Hi, Elie. Hi, Jackson. Do you guys know where Darla's sitting?" I ask. "Mhm! In the back, where she always sits." "K. Thanks, Elie!" I walk over and sit down next to Darla. She has a book in her face and has earbuds in so she probably didn't hear me say "Hi" to her just now. I take one of her earbuds out and put it in mine. "Wow! Good song choice there." Darla jolts. "Ah! Danny! You scared me!" She giggles and I blush. "S-Sorry!" She giggles again and smiles. I love her smile. It reminds me of my mothers. "It's OK silly!"
"Anyway, what book are you reading?" I point to her book. "Oh, this? It's just a manga I picked up at the bookstore. It's called 'Kimetsu No Yaiba: Demon Slayer'. It's about this boy who's family gets killed by a demon and his sister who survived, Nezuko, turns into a demon and he goes on a journey to become a demon slayer so he can turn his sister back into a human."
"Oooh. I'll have to read it sometime." She laughs. "Yeah! It's good." I blush. "S-So I was thinking. I-If you wanted to we cou-" Delilah walks over. "Why are you sitting with...her?" Ugh....Delilah. I hate her sometimes. "Oh! Hi, Delil-"
"Yeah no. Come on, Danny!" Darla doesn't deserve to be treated like that. "Danny? Come-"
"NO! I'M NOT GOING TO 'Come on!'! APOLOGIZE TO DARLA! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE... LIKE... SHE'S WORTHLESS!! SHE'S WORTH WAY MORE THAN YOU AT THE MOST!" I blink and see that Delilah's on the floor crying and realize everyone's looking at.... me... "I..I'm sorry...I..." I sit down. "Danny? Are...are you ok?" Darla asks me. "Uhm..yeah...I think so.."
"Good. Then, why did you yell at Delilah like that?" I had a feeling that she would ask that. "I just couldn't take that she was talking to you like that! She's so rude sometimes. I wish I could just, like, redo our friendship..."
"Hmm... I can understand that. You'll be OK."
"I hope so..."
