"Shh mama's here" you whispered, stroking her hair as she lay curled up on your chest, little coughs leaving her mouth and her cheeks red as you placed a hand on them, feeling her whole face burning up as she shivered, insisting she was freezing, the five blankets wrapped around her clearly doing nothing. You hated seeing your little girl get ill, always wishing it was you instead of her, and most of the time not really knowing what to do to help her apart from give her a dose of calpol every few hours. She refused to eat anything and even struggled to keep water down, spending most of the day with her head in a bucket waiting for her dad to come home. She was quite a daddy's girl and when he wasn't at home she struggled to settle, especially when she was sick, so the minute he walked through the door she'd be calling for him and shifting into his arms as he gently kissed her forehead before nodding off to sleep, there was nothing like a daddy and daughter cuddles ❤️
