I couldn't sleep. Every few minutes I would change my position but nothing would change. When I finally settled on just laying on my back, I stared at my ceiling that was covered in those glow-in-the-dark stars you would buy from a second-hand store. "What the hell...", I said in a sighing tone. I grabbed my phone from my dresser and checked the time. It was 2:47 am on a Tuesday night. Well, technically it was Wednesday since it was practically three am. I groaned, but before I could put my phone down, I heard my notification sound.
I brought my phone closer to my face so that I could see it better, and there was a message from a number I wasn't really aware of.
Unknown: "Hey :)"
What the hell?
Violet: "Hello? Who is this?"
Unknown: "You don't know me but I know you pretty well ;)"
Ew. Fucking creep.
Violet: "...Okay, goodnight scammer."
Unknown: "Damn you're no fun."
What does this person mean by "No fun?". Sorry that I don't waste time on random weirdos.
Violet: "I'm fun, but I don't wanna waste my beauty rest on some random creep online."
Unknown: "Well if you put it that way, I sound like a prick."
Wow. I wonder why. It definitely fits his description after the few minutes I've known him.
Violet: "If the shoe fits."
Jesus Christ. Sometimes I wonder why the hell people do this. Like why? Is it fun? Do you like wasting other people's time? I got up to grab a glass of water and slid my phone into the right pocket of my sweats. As I was going down the stairs, I felt my phone vibrate.
Unknown: "I wouldn't go down there if I were you."
Violet: "What, are you in my house or something? Wow, good job creep."
Wait a minute. Does this dude know where I live? The FUCK? Okay okay, wait a minute.
Violet: "Wait what the fuck, why? Also, how do you know I'm going downstairs?"
Unknown: "Well, there's a big scary thief man in you're kitchen raiding it, and you don't need to know how I know ;)"
I heard something hit the ground in the kitchen. It was like a clash, maybe something metal. My heart began to race. I crept down the rest of the stairs and walked down the hallway. I heard more movement, and I looked around for the closest thing to me. I grabbed a vase off of a cabinet in the hallway. I could hear the beating of my heart as if I were at one of my school pep rallies and the drumline was going crazy. As I slowly approached the doorway of the kitchen, I saw the shadow of a large man heading straight towards the exit of the kitchen, my direction. As soon as the figure actually stepped into the doorway, I reacted. In a swift, panicked motion I smashed the vase against the man's face, and he fell to the floor.
I stared at the motionless body in front of me. "What the actual hell..." I whispered to myself. I took a step closer and slightly kicked the body. The man was out cold. I dialed 911 and made my way upstairs up to my parent's bedroom. As soon as I reached their door, I slammed it open. Astonished, I gasped. They were nowhere to be seen.
"This is 911, what is your emergency?" I heard an operator say. It was a woman who sounded kind but firm. I headed back down the stairs. "T-There was a man who broke into my house. H-He was in the kitchen a-and then walked towards me and now he's-" I paused. The body was gone.
Notes: Hey! Sorry if this is a bit weird because I haven't written in a while and I hope you enjoyed it!
