"How do you get yourself in this mess?" I asked

Eloni laid on the bed restlessly, looking up at the ceiling. "I don't know..." He sighed

I continued to fix him up, I didn't really know what had happened, they never really told me anything.

Me and Eloni had some sort of connection that I couldn't really describe. I was surprised that he was so open to me, everyone noticed it, too.

I kept my attention on the work at hand, I made sure everything was patched up before continuing our conversation.

"You're still not going to tell me what happened?" I tried to pry his words

His eyes fluttered from the ceiling to my eyes then quickly back up. "I.. You're going to make fun of me,"

"No I'm not silly. shoot,"

He could finally sit up now, and he crossed his legs with his hands in his lap. I still stood on the edge of the bed.

"I lost my balance and I might've fell," he told me very quietly.

I started to pack up my tools, "You are so clumsy, its sad," I laughed. A dim smile showed on his face.

"Well, are you feeling better, anything else you want me to fix?"

After a moment of silence, he shook his head.

"You know, thanks again, for.. For you know. Helping me," he started, "It really means a lot. I feel like no one really understands me like you do,"

I was pleased by his words, "You know that I'd do anything for you,
I mean, that's what friends are for, right?"

His eyes dropped again, "Yeah, I guess so,"

I was confused on what to do. Had I said something? He wasn't really the one to talk about what he was feeling though, not even to me. But maybe I could push him to tell me.

I put my stuff down and went over and sat on the bed. His body seemed to tense.

"What's wrong?" I asked even though I expected him not to tell me.

"Nothings wrong, I'm just tired,"

I sighed through my nose, "You always do this, you can tell me anything, please,"

"Really, I'm fine, I am,"

"Come on, I'm your best friend, it should be easy to-"

He groaned, "Okay, okay, I get it," In his tone it was clear that he was aggravated, he still managed to keep calm though.

I took his hand, we sat across from each other on the bed so it was easy to read him, "trust me Eloni, please"

With one last groan I could see his shoulders drop, and his back arch.

"I don't want to lie to you anymore," he still avoided my eye contact, "I've never had to deal with this, so please bear with me,"

My thumb ran over the back of his hand, "I'm here," I condoled.

He was obviously struggling with his words. I wish that I could help him but I really didn't know what he was dealing with.

He would start to say something, but then he'd immediately retract.

"Just say it, you'll feel so much better and then we'll-"

"I like you," his words were quick. I barely caught what he had said.

"What?"

"I like you, okay?"

I was in a trance for a moment. I could see that he was so nervous. He wouldn't even look up at me.
