Chapter 23 [ declaration of war ]

I'm really sorry i havent posted for ages, i will get back on top of stuff

-i thought i posted the chapter earlier but i didnt soz-

mental health is lower than a god damn canyon right now and school at home is driving me completely crazy. (doesnt help that i dont sleep and i mean it. i. dont. sleep. not like "Oh i go to bed at 3am" i mean that i dont sleep five days of the week.)

"Aw man" You sat in the 1A waiting room, along with your piers, waiting for present mic to officially start the festival. "I was totally hoping I could wear my costume." Mina pulled at her gym top.

"At least everyone will be in uniforms, that way we keep things fair right?" Ojiro stretched one arm over the other.

"I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round." Sato stated to the bird boy.

"No matter what they've prepared, we must persevere." Tokoyami said.

You sat alone in the corner, thinking over the challenges ahead and how to use the remains of your quirk for All For One had taken almost all of it.

A burst came from the door, Iida shouted from it with an aggravated like face "Everybody, put your game faces on, we're entering the arena soon."

Mineta and Midoriya started breathing heavier and drawing triangles on their palms, others breathing pace getting closer together.

"Midoriya," Todoroki walled up to the one he called for, standing in front of him and looking down upon the green haired boy.

"Oh, hey Todoroki, what's up?" He replied.

Everyone turned their attention to the two boys.

"From an adjective stand point- I think it's fairly clear that I'm stronger than you." Midoriya nodded in response, "However, you've got All Might in your corner, helping you out. I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two, but know that I will beat you." Shoto announced with a straight face.

"Wow, what's with all these declarations of war lately?" Denki asked as his red-haired friend put a hand on Todoroki's shoulder.

"Yeah, what's the big deal, why are you picking a fight all of a sudden, and right before we get started?" Kirishima asked.

"We are not here to be each others friends, don't forget, this isn't a team effort." Todoroki shrugged of the hand and walked off to his seat again.

"Wait a sec Todoroki." Midoriya stopped the boy. "I don't know what's going through your head, or that you need to tell me that you'll beat me, and yeah, of course you're better than me- in fact you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course, that's why you got in so easily."

"Midoriya, maybe you're being a little hard on yourself, and us." Kirishima butted in.

"No, he's right you guys." Midoriya turned his head down. "All the other courses... they're coming for us with everything they've got. We're all going to have to fight to stand out." He turned his head up, looked directly to Todoroki. "And I'll be aiming for the top too."

Todoroki turned his body to face him, only replied with a "fine".

Muffled words from Present Mic's speech filled the awkward silence that was the waiting room, everyone just looking at the scene that unrolled.

"Hey Kirishima." You called out to your friend.

"Yeah, what is it?" he asked.

"Just know, I'm going to totally beat your ass." You joked with him.
