Chapter 1

Korea, Soeul

Friday

It was 9 am and the sun shone through the window. The warm light tickled Caleb's face. His friends laughed seeing him react in his sleep. They started slowly playing with the curtain watching the rays of light mess with Caleb's face. Caleb kept twisting and turning. Then Nathan suddenly pulled the curtain, causing Caleb to suddenly wake up.

Nathan. One of Caleb's friends. He's sort of a jerk and doesn't respect women. He's a player and treated his ex-girlfriend like shit. But Caleb keeps him around cause they've been friends for so many years.

"Hey, what the hell?" Caleb said in a low voice as he covered the light with his hand.

Yawn. God, what time is it? It had been the first time Caleb got a decent rest since that terrible flight. Crying kids, annoying passengers, even his friends took a peice out of him during that flight. 

Ivan was laughing while Nathan started tieing his shoes. "Come on man, we already let you sleep in."

Caleb shrugged, he knew they were right. Caleb stretched his arms and started getting up. 

"Hurry up Caleb," Ivan said, "We're wasting time"

Ivan. Caleb's other friend. Hes a good person with a good sense of humor and is Caleb's best friend, right after Syd. But on this trip it was just Caleb, Ivan, and unfortunetly Nathan.

"Where are we going?" He asked.

"Not sure yet." Nathan said. "We're trying to pick a place to eat. I heard theres a ton of good shit to eat around here."

Thats true, they checked into their hotel late last night so they hadn't done anything special yet. Their trip in korea was a month long. But instead of planning what to do, they just went at it.

Eventually they chose a nice Korean resturant, had top ratings, and was known to serve the best food. 

"안녕하세요, 영어 또는 한국어?"A kind old woman said. She then cleared her voice and repeated what she said, "Hello, English or Korean." She had a sweet little accent.

"English, please" Ivan said.

The old woman nodded and continued what she was saying, "Table for how many?" 

"3 please." Caleb said.

"Alright, right this way"

They sat down at a nice corner booth table. Originally, the old woman had brought them to a center table but because Nathan whined and whined to get the corner booth table, here they are now. 

"Alright here you go gentlemen," The old woman said, "You're waitress will be here to take your order soon. Enjoy!" 

"Thank you." Ivan and Caleb said. But not Nathan. He wasn't taught manners, what a shame.

When they sat down, they started joking around and talking waiting for their waitress to arrive.

"Dude, did you guys see all the hot Asian girls?" Nathan said.

"Yeah man, when we were crossing the street, there was this really fine girl in an orange shirt." Ivan added.

"Oh you saw her too? Yeah with the white hat, right?" Nathan asked.

"Yeah her!"

"Bro, she was hella fine."

"Ha, I could probably make that girl my wife." Caleb said jokingly.

Ivan and Nathan instantly started laughing. "No way man, you wish."

"Watch me, I bet I could make any girl fall for me." Caleb said. His friends shook their heads, "Nah, for real, I could pick up any bitch."

They all started laughing then quieted down once their waitress arrived.

"Hi, my name is Maddie, and I will be your waitress this evening." She said in a nice sweet soft voice. All the boys were stuck in silence when they saw her. Especially Caleb. He was suprised to hear she spoke such good English.

She was beautiful, even her name was beautiful. She was a petite Korean girl with big dark eyes and long black flowing hair. Her skin was clear and pretty. Everything about her was incredible.

"I'll be back soon with your menus," Maddie said with a smile, "If you need anything, just ask me!" Then she walked away.

"Whoa." Nathan said, watching her as she walked away. Douche bag.

"She's so pretty." Ivan agreed.

"Damn, I wonder what lucky guy was able to get her." Caleb said, sorta dissapointed since he knew he didn't have a chance.

"Hey Caleb, what happened to your cocky little attitude?" Nathan said with an annoying voice. "Haha, I dare you to ask out that cute waitress."

"What? No way man."

"Yeah, come on, Caleb."

Caleb kept disagreeing but his friends wouldn't let it go until finally Caleb agreed. "Fine, I'll ask her out" He said rolling his eyes.

"Wait but should I say?" Caleb asked.

"You gotta use a pick up line man." Nathan said while making stupid faces, "Pick up lines get all the hoes." Not sure what hoes he was talking about though, cause Nathan can't get his hands on a woman even if he begged. 

"A pickup line? Really?" Caleb asked, "Should I just be like, heyyy baby girl, do you have African in you? No? Well, lets change that." 

They all started laughing. Then Maddi came back with 3 menus in her hand. "Alright here you go guys. I'll be back in a little to take your order!" 

Ivan and Nathan were nudging and staring at Caleb so he could shoot his shot, but Caleb said nothing. His heart was pounding. It was just a silly dare, but damn it made Caleb extremely nervous.

Maddie then left. "Dude, what the fuck? You were supposed to ask her out" Nathan said.

"Yeah man," Ivan said, "We knew you couldn't do it." They both started laughing.

"I will...just not right now." 

Time passed, Maddie kept going and returning Caleb kept putting it off trying to find the right time to ask her. Cause it would be awkwaed if he asked while she was serving them, like what if she said no? 

Maddie came back one final time, "Alright, here is your bill." 

Then thats when Caleb decided to shoot his shot. 

"Hey Maddie." Caleb started.

"Yes?" She said still smiling.

"Would, would you like to go out with me?" Caleb asked half-jokingly. He had expected a straight up 'no.' or 'I have a boyfriend' but instead...

Maddie started laughing, wow even her laugh was pretty. "Sure, I'll go out with you, but only if we somehow see eachother again." 

"Alright." Caleb smiled, even though he low-key got rejected, he was still happy. Happy that there was even a slight chance. Happy that he even got to meet Maddie that day.

They left the resturant, and started chatting on the way out. As soon as Caleb walked out, he realized he should have gotten her number. But it was too late now, if they were meant to meet again, then it would be destiny.
