He was cornered. Overpowered. Blood flowed heavily from all of his severed limbs, and a sharp javelin impaled him, pinning him against the dirt.

His opponent towered over him, a sly grin creeping onto his lips. He raised his sword high above his head. Then, right when Thanos was certain he was going to deliver the finishing blow, he instead lowered the sword, sheathed it, and paused a moment.

He had Thanos right where he wanted him. That much he knew was true.

Calmly, he adjusted his cufflinks, then pulled out his pocketwatch and began to polish it with a handkerchief. Finally, when it was pristine enough that he could clearly see his reflection in it, he closed it back up, satisfied, and tucked it back into his waistcoat, tossing the handkerchief to the ground where it landed amongst the rubble and debris of everything and everyone Thanos ever loved.

"Don't taunt me like this," Thanos choked, his voice quivering in pain and fear. He cowered back as best he could, but every inch of movement just made his bleeding wounds ache more and more. "You've clearly won this battle. Now take your victory."

The man chuckled cruelly and peered at him through his glasses, a condescending and grimacing look in his dark eyes.

"Oh, Thanos. I'm not finished with you yet," Baileywick said.
