"Hey, babe. I am on my way home from work, I got out early. I'm just going to stop by the coffee shop quickly to get a latte. Call me back if you want anything so you can have it after work. I love you." Y/N ended the call after leaving the voicemail for her boyfriend of 4 years. She called him a couple of times after leaving work but there was no answer.
He's probably busy with something for work. He's always busy nowadays.
Lately, she's been feeling uneasy when he says he has to stay late because of a workload. But she pushes those feelings aside because she knows that Jackson wouldn't lie. She loved him and he loved her and she knew she was overthinking it. She couldn't help but shake the feeling these last couple of months.
She arrived at their local coffee shop, Y/N parked her car on the street and made her way inside the cafe.
While waiting in line to order, she checked her phone and there were no missed calls or unread text messages. She shrugged her shoulders and proceeded to read the menu.
"Hi! What can I get for you today, Miss Y/N?" The barista said.
"Hey Jen, Can I just get a medium caramel macchiato with soy milk? Extra caramel." Y/N told the barista, also eyeing the blueberry scone in the pastry display.
"And also the blueberry scone. That would be all." Y/N added to her order. She figured she'd pick up his favorite while here.
"Of course, no problem. Your order will be ready in a few." The barista smiled.
After getting her order, Y/N walked to the car and proceeded to drive home. Once she got to their townhouse, she noticed Kenji's car was parked in one of their spaces.
"He's home?" Y/N whispers to herself before getting out of the car and grabbing her items.
Y/N made way to her front door and could hear Kenji laughing loudly inside.
"What the hell?" Y/N said as she unlocked and opened the front door to her home.
Once she opened the door, she could see the living room in plain view. Kenji was on the couch cuddled with another woman, naked.
"K-Kenji?" Y/N stuttered, her voice barely a whisper. She dropped her coffee that was in her hands. Splashing onto the floor, along with the scone.
Kenji got up quickly from the couch while the young woman covered herself with the blanket, with a shocked and confused expression on her face. Y/N could feel the hurt and betrayal rising in her heart.
"Kenji, what's going on? Who's this?" The young girl got up from the couch with the blanket wrapped around her. She stared at Kenji who was now trying to put his clothes back on. She was waiting for an answer while looking back in forth between the two.
"Kenji, what is going on? Who is this?." Said the girl again.
"I- this is- shit," Kenji didn't know how to answer.
Y/N stood there, tears brimming in her eyes. Her hands balled up into fists, she choked back the sob that was trying to escape from her chest.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N answered. "I'm his fiancé,"
"Wha- what? Fiance?" She looked at Y/N, her eyes wide.
Y/N turned to look at her. She didn't know. She thought.
"You have a fiancé? YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THAT." The girl started yelling.
"HOW COULD YOU HAVE BROUGHT ME HERE IF YOU HAVE A FIANCE? YOU PIG. IF KNEW YOU WERE ENGAGED, I WOULDN'T HAVE GONE THIS FAR WITH YOU!"
"This far? How long were you seeing her?" Y/N tears were falling down her face but she wasn't mad at the girl. She had believed the girl truly didn't know, based on her reaction.
"Y/N, look I can explai-" Kenji started to say but was interrupted by the girl.
"We've been seeing each other for 8 months and not once did you mention you had a fiance!" The young girl yelled at Kenji and then looked at Y/N.
"I am so sorry if I would have kno-" Y/N cut her off, the girl half-naked, shaking, hurt in her eyes.
8 months...we got engaged 4 months ago. She really didn't know...
"Don't be. This isn't your fault, it's him, and we weren't happily engaged. I knew something was off, it has been for months now." Y/N said as she's stepping towards a distressed Kenji.
"You've been seeing her for 8 months? You proposed to me 4 months ago. What kind of sick bastard proposes to their girlfriend while seeing another woman behind her back, huh? Who do you think you are, trying to play this off, huh." She pointed into his chest. Y/N took the ring off and threw it at the man. The ring landed on the floor as it could be heard hitting the ground.
"No, please don't do that." While Kenji got down on his knees, in a begging position.
"I am so sorry, please forgive me I don't know what I was thinking. I don't love her at all, please...I love you Y/N." Kenji cried out on his knees, rubbing his two hands together for forgiveness.
"You told me you loved me...you liar!" The now dressed girl cried. She walked up to Kenji and slapped him across the face. Before she walked out the front door, she looked at Y/N and exchanged a glance of guilt and sadness.
"I am so sorry. I really am. You don't have to forgive me but for your sake, don't take him back, he's fucking scum. I hate cheaters." She spat the last sentence at Kenji and closed the door shut, leaving the two alone.
"Y/N, let's talk this out, okay? This is all a misunderstanding, she meant nothing. I don't know what I was thinking. I meant everything when I proposed, I did."
He picked up the ring and walked over to Y/N and tried placing it back on her ring finger. Y/N jolted her hand aways and slapped Kenji on the face, leaving a red mark.
"Get. the. fuck. out. GET OUT!" Y/N said between sobs.
She rushed up the stairs to their bedroom, walked straight into the closet, and grabbed all of Kenji's clothing and belongings in her arms, throwing it down the stairs.
"I don't want to see you ever again. LEAVE NOW! Don't ever come back. I'm done, there's nothing left for us to fix."
Kenji stared at her from the bottom of the stairs, tears in his eyes, his hair all messed up from him tugging on it from the distress of the situation. He gathered up what was on the ground of his personal belongings, grabbed his keys, and opened the front door.
Y/N was breathing heavy, hurt and anger rising in and out of her chest. She watched as he looked at her with pleading eyes, standing in between the threshold of the home.
Taking in one last look, she said the last words she'll ever say to him.
"I hate you, Kenji Lee."
She closed her bedroom door behind her. She heard the front door of her home close and a sound of a car starting. Y/N had her back against her bedroom door and slowly slid down and hugged her knees, letting out her heartbroken cries.
