If you're looking for a book that romanticizes drug/alcohol abuse and mental illness, then this is not the book for you. As a recovering addict who spent four months in rehab in 2020, my depiction of these issues, especially drug use, is 100% based off of my real experience with drugs. The substance use in this book is coming from a neutral viewpoint, so as not to romanticize nor demonize addiction. The characters themselves will of course have their own thoughts/opinions about drugs, but again, they're meant to give you glimpses into what the inside of an addict's mind is actually like. ^Also, ditto for the depictions of eating disorders, mention of self-harm, depression, and anxiety. No romanization, just accuracy. No printer, just fax. Hotel, trivago.
The characters are not meant to be an accurate representation of the boys, and are only slightly based off of some of their character traits. I do not personally ship any of them together but there is a hidden ship between two of them that is just for fun. All will be revealed in time.
