Améllie's POV:
I woke up with the noises of mum yelling at me. When I open my eyes, I see my empty room with several moving boxes scattered around it.
'Améllie, maintenant descendez pour le petit déjeuner, nous sommes en retard!'
'I'm going mum!'
I don't know why but when she's nervous she likes to speak in french. Anyway, I get up from my bed and go to the bathroom. When I look in the mirror, I see my shoulder-length light brown hair, my freckles, and my hazel eyes looking at me. I do my needs and clean up my face, then I dress up and go downstairs for breakfast.
After my dad died last year, my mom decided to leave France and go to England. She had found a great job opportunity there and we're moving today to live with my grandparents in London. And I'm definitely not excited about this, I mean, not that I have many friends here. I just don't like the feeling of going somewhere new, I'll have to adapt to a whole different place. This just ain't for me.
'Bonjour ma fille' my mom says while she takes the moving boxes to the car.
'Morning mum' I say while eating my toast.
While I'm eating my brother gets downstairs with a confident look on his face.
'Why you are all dressed up? We are literally going to be stuck in a car for the past six hours'.
'British chicks are hot, I need to look good' he says with a face of shock and offense.
I roll my eyes in response.
When I finish breakfast, I put my stuff in the car and help my mother letting the house clean for the buyers.
'Allez les gens, montez dans la voiture!' my mum yells.
'I'm going!!!' I yell back.
I finish tidying the house and enter the car.
These six hours are gonna SUCK.
I decide to listen to music to spend time. After a few hours, my eyeballs start to feel heavy and heavier, then I close my eyes.
I wake up with my brother knocking on my left arm.
'Ouch! that hurt'
'Oi! weirdo, we've already arrived'. my brother says
'Go to hell.' I reply
When I look out the window, I see this huge, fancy house. I've completely forgotten that my grandparents had A LOT of money, I and my brother only saw than once when we were like seven years old. I don't even remember their faces anymore.
We get out of the car, and I ring the bell. When the door opens, an old lady with gray hair welcomes us.
'Oh! My dear, you have arrived! How did you grow up! You two are already passing me! Come in, come in!' she says, then she hugs and kisses which one of us.
'Hey grandma' I and my brother say.
'Hi mom, how are you?' my mom asked.
'Oh, I'm great! Richard is already coming down, he is just finishing some work matters.' the old lady replies.
When we enter the house, there is a large central hallway. The hallway flows into a large, wide staircase.
'Wow'
'Feel free, I will ask Martin to take your things to the bedrooms and show you them' my grandma says.
Suddenly a butler (who I suppose is Martin) appears out of nowhere and says he will show us our bedrooms.
After a few hours, we are all at the dinner table waiting for the food.
'Did you like your bedrooms?' my grandpa asks.
'The bedrooms are huge! Our entire house could fit inside.' My brother says.
'Yeah, they are pretty cool.' I say.
'So, your grandparents and I were reflecting and we decided that you guys are gonna study in a boarding school.' my mom says.
'What!'
'Why?'
'What did we do wrong?'
'Calm down, calm down.' my grandma says. 'We decided that is better for your education.'
'Guys, don't worry, we are gonna see each other every holiday!' my mum says.
'Going to a boarding school is gonna be terrible. Only spoiled brats go there. I bet no one is nice.' I replied
'I agree' my brother says
'Don't worry, I and your grandfather studied at a boarding school. We met there, actually. You have nothing to fear.' my grandma says with a smile.
'Fine.' I replied rolling my eyes.
That night I couldn't sleep, I was too busy thinking about how it's going to be at the school. People would be nice? It's going to be hard? Am I going to adapt? Well, no one knows, I guess we need to figure it out.
