Breath. Just breathe. Stop worrying about messing up.

Just breathe.

It is our first competition today and I am about to throw up profusely, my nerves are taking over my actions and I cannot control my anxiety. I am literally shaking so much that I had to get Trina, my best friend, to do my makeup for me.

"I am so pathetic, Trina." I huffed looking down at my shaking hands.

"Girl don't say that! It is your first show of the season, it is okay to be nervous. When I had my first show for dance, I threw up all over the stage and my outfit." She told me trying to make me feel better.

"What if I accidentally fall when I do one of my jumps or, even worse, trip on my skates and run into Jasper? Do you know how embarrassing that would be? Oh my God, I could never show my face to him ever again!" I exaggerated while my heart beats faster with the words I am spewing.

"Listen to yourself, Rosalina! You are doubting your ability to be absolutely fantastic! You know you are going to be phenomenal out there. Now, go put on your beautiful costume and kick ass!" Trina encouraged me while finishing the smoky, glittery eye look.

She is right, I am so hard on myself and I need to relax and kick ass. I know I can do the routine, Jasper and I practiced it for hours throughout the week. I would be very devastated if I make a huge mistake after perfecting it during rehearsals.

I took a deep breath, looked at my reflection in the mirror one last time, and got up from my chair, picking up my gorgeous costume. The outfit was light pink that faded into a darker pink. The design on the front was made up of rhinestones and glitter, I so mesmerized by the detailing. The dress was short-sleeved, which is great so that I do not burn up. I unzipped the dress and stepped through the hole on the top and pulled it up. I asked Trina to zip the dress for me since my arms are too short to reach the zipper.

"You look so beautiful Rosalina! The rhinestones really bring out your ocean eyes so perfectly! Now, I have to brag for a bit about my makeup look. The smokiness with the shimmery is so gorge and to die for!" Trina complimented making me smile brightly and blush.

Shaking my head, I picked up my silver earrings and slipping them into my ears. Once they are securely clipped in, I sat on the bench and put on my cream-colored skates. As a figure skater, I really hate wearing skates because they are so painful and have no support, whatsoever. They make me feel like I am walking on pins and needles. I just need to buy new ones, but they are super expensive!

I took a deep breath once I finished up tying up my laces. I slowly got up and regaining balance from wobbling. I brushed off any hair or dust that was collected on my dress and smiled in the mirror.

You're going to be amazing Rosalina, stop pressuring yourself and go kill it out there! Just focus on Jasper and yourself, no one else just you two. Pretend that it's still rehearsal and that there is no crowd.

My heart pounded at the word crowd but I ignored the nerves.

I met up with Jasper in the hallway closer to his dressing room, we looked at each other with awed eyes. We both look so breathtaking, I can not keep my eyes off of Jasper. He looks so perfect and chiseled, his uniform really brings out his arm muscles in the best way possible!

Girl, what the heck are you saying? He is your figure skating partner, not your boyfriend! Get your head out of the gutter, jeez!

I shook my head getting rid of the thoughts running through my brain, and I smiled up at Jasper as we linked our arms together. We walked silently down the hallway, not in an awkward way, in a more focused way so we don't lose focus.

We walked for a good fifteen minutes down this long, narrow hallway. Jasper and I shared a few casual conversations to pass uptime. We talked about how amazing we are going to do during this competition, and how our nerves are not going to get the best of us. We were talking he noticed how nervous and shaky I was, so he squeezed my arm a little to calm me down. He knows that a great way to calm me down when my anxiety is super high, and it is extremely sweet that he knows that.

There were these tall and wide black doors that guide us to the skating rink, I heard loud yelling and claps from the other side of the doors. The cheering made my heart pump and try to catch my breath. Jasper looks down at me, gave me a reassuring expression, and brought me into a hug.

"Rosalina, we are going to be extraordinary out there, just do exactly what we do at rehearsals. There is no difference between this rink and ours back at home. Those people out there are going to be blown away from our performance!" He comforts me with his amazing words.

I pulled him tighter and smiled in his chest.

The doors opened and there a bright light shining through the doors, the security ushered us out the door and we made our way to the middle of the rink while waving at the crowd. Jasper gave me one last glance and nod at me for reassurance and gave returned one back. We get into our starting positions as the announcer was introducing us and our performance. The music starts.

Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again...
