The Hunger Games 500th

Chapter: 4

Dinner was many things. But awkward was for sure the words for it.

Justine was quiet for once as she sipped her soup. There were 5 Victors who were to be our mentors. Mine was named Stella, and Taite's was name Eliza. We all are in silence while eating our feast. It wasn't loud in the talking but every tribute including me was eating in loud chumps begging for more.

Dinner was a steak cut so thin that it melted on my tongue. We had mashed potatoes with cheese and we had a fruit bowl. For dessert, we had a chocolate tart plate with chocolates that we ate with our fruit.

After dinner we all had 2 hours before we had to be in bed. 11.

Me and Taite took a walk through the train, in every room there were avoxs. We finally went to the last train car where we stepped into the breeze. The caboose had seats surrounded by a railing that helps us from not falling out. We sat down and I stared at Taite. She avoided my gaze.

"Taite." I say Obviosuly ignored.

"Taite you can't do this." I frown as she starts to cry. She looks up at me with the most saddest look.

"Destiny. This is going to be hard. It doesn't matter what happens, we will always feel alone. Winning the games means going home to travel back to the Capitol every year after, to be a mentor. To watch kids go through the same experience." She sobs as she leans into me crying in my shoulder.

"I don't want to be in the Hunger Games."

"Taite everyone is in some kind of game. The game of fighting for our lives, the game of keeping the world together, the game of trying to be somebody in this world. The hunger games are just a game that is broadcasted."

She smiles at me and asks me if I'm nervous. I tell her who wouldn't be.

Even if you were about to compete in the biggest, deathlike game. Sometimes hope is our only option.
