August 2011

Bruno walked down the airport tunnel with his best friend behind him and his body guard in front of him. "Holy crap, I had no idea it was this hot in Minneapolis." He sighed as they felt a woosh of hot humid air through the tunnel.

"Chill, dude. We're here a day and then we're going back to LA." Dre said holding his hand out grabbing a piece of paper that a girl had thrown in their direction. "Do you want to?" he asked.

"Sure..." he said grabbing the pen. "What's your name, sweetheart?" he asked.

"Katie." She answered shyly.

"Here you go, Katie. Have a good day." He smiled handing it back to her seeing her squeal to herself running back to her parents.

"I'll meet you all in the front. I'll get the bags." Ryan told them as he started to part ways with them.

"Alright, dude." Bruno said slightly waving to his assistant as he, Dre, and his musical director, Phredley walked in the other direction. Bruno stepped aside from everyone grabbing a cigarette from his pocket as they neared the sidewalk. He leaned against the wall taking a long drag blending into the crowd at the airport. He looked down at his phone seeing a text message from one of his sisters.

Good luck, baby brother.

Thanks. Love you.

He texted back stomping on the cigarette stomping on the remaining ashes. He dug in his pockets pulling out a piece of gum jamming it in his mouth as he walked back toward his friends. "Okay, let's get this one over with." He smiled making sure they all knew his sarcasm.

"This one is going to be fun, Brunz. It's like a few songs and everyone is going to love it." Phred told him.

"Yeah. I know. It will be good. I kind of have started liking doing these. I might just keep on doing them. It's easy and it makes me feel even better than a regular show." Bruno told them.

"It is." Phred said leaning against the cushy seat of the car they were riding in.

"We'll be there in a few minutes." Someone yelled from the front of the car.

Maggie walked down the stale hallway pumping the anti-bacterial lotion on her hand before stepping in the hospital room. "Are you ready to go, Elizabeth?" she asked the gaunt and pale patient.

"I'm ready, Mags. Who do we get to see today?" the little girl asked.

"Do you know the Lazy Song?" Maggie, a tall, skinny 23 year old hospital volunteer asked.

"The one with the monkeys?" the little girl asked.

"Yes, the one with the monkeys." Maggie smiled. "That's who we get to see."

"Did you get to see anyone that cute when you were here?" Elizabeth asked Maggie as they each struggled to get her out of the bed.

"Umm....I think...." Maggie tried to remember. "I was too sick to see Backstreet Boys when they came. They came to the room though. I remember Nick kissing me on the forehead. And then...I think the last time.....Ray J came. He was very sweet. But that's all I remember."

"Is he the one that was with Kim Kardashian?" the 10 year old asked.

Maggie burst out laughing as they walked down the hallway. "Yes. Now, shush. We're just interested in this hottie." Maggie smiled having no idea Bruno was standing just feet away. "Oh..." she gasped seeing Bruno pulling off his hat running his fingers through his hair looking up slowly to see them walking down the hallway. "I'm....I'm..."

"Don't worry. " he smiled a big smile bending down to say hello to Elizabeth. "Hi, I'm Bruno. What's your name?" he asked.

"I'm Elizabeth." She got out. "She was right. You are cute." Elizabeth smiled.

"Oh my god, shut up!" Maggie exclaimed turning away.

"Well, I see your friend has really great taste in men." Bruno laughed trying not to make Maggie feel even worse.

"Elizabeth has a rather large mouth for someone who is very sick." Maggie smirked looking into Bruno's eyes. Woah. They are pretty. She thought as he started to hold the door for the wheelchair Elizabeth was in. He followed behind them pointing to a small area where Elizabeth could sit. Maggie sat down next to Elizabeth feeling slightly awkward after their interaction. To forget about what happened she excused herself from Elizabeth getting up to talk to the nurses.

One of the nurses, Carmen, looked over at Maggie. "Are you okay?" Carmen asked.

"I'm fine." Maggie answered. "I just embarrassed myself in front of Bruno Mars. That's all." Maggie told the nurse.

"Oh honey, that's not the first or the last time you'll embarrass yourself." Carmen answered.

"I know..it's just...he had the most amazing eyes...." Maggie gushed walking away to talk to some of the other younger patients.

"Well, that's a lost cause." Carmen told her co-worker, Jane.

"Yep." Jane answered.
