Fear is an unpleasant strong emotion that is often caused by anticipation or awareness of danger. That's how they define fear, but does 'fear' really exist?
I'm stuck in a hospital, a place said to be where you can be cured. I'm currently pacing through the halls dragging my dextrose along in a patient's gown, looking around, observing neighboring patients doing the same routine as mine as our respective doctors advised us.
I've never stepped out of my room since I was confined, which is dangerous for my condition. Because of that, I didn't get enough sunlight necessary to be healthy.
My room is like a prison, once you enter, there is no way out except through the wooden door. I decided to walk out to follow my doctor's instructions and see a new environment.
I eventually reach the rear of the building where a garden is laid abundant with colorful flowers.
I was always fascinated seeing different kinds of flowers. It reminds me of my worth, who I am, and where I stand. The warm sultry colors somehow tell me that no matter who I am, I'm still a person with a unique personality that no one in this world have.
"Sunshine!" I ran at the sudden moment I heard his voice and hid shielded by large sunflowers.
"Where have you been?" It was too late, he already found me.
He's Airies, my personal nurse here in the hospital. Ever since I arrived, he took care of me and he became my acquaintance.
"My doctor told me to take a stroll." I replied to him with a soft voice.
"But what did your doctor say before you started walking around?" He asked me with care as if he was my older brother.
"'Stay away from the flowers'." Malungkot kong sagot sa kaniya.
"Exactly. Let's head back before the sun sets." He assisted me with my dextrose until we got out of the garden.
As we strode toward my room, my head unexpectedly felt like pounding. I became dizzy and nauseous, my heart paced so fast, my legs felt limp. I sensed beads of sweat running down across my face, while my feet went numbingly ice cold.
I kept walking like normal so that Airies wouldn't notice but my efforts came to waste as my body failed to endure the internal torment. I remember collapsing and seeing Airies in front of me. And then nothing.

"Her eyes are responsive." I heard the doctor sternly say.
She's my personal doctor, Doc Jaimie. Just like Airies, she is my healthcare provider who is also studying and searching for a cure to my rare disease.
"Hi, Sunshine. Do you hear me?" Doctor Jaimie asked me.
A tube fed through my mouth disabled my ability to speak. It is uncomfortable but being the only device that helps me breathe, I can't take comfort over life.
"If you hear me, move your eyes to your left." I did as she told me to.
"Very good! Now, wiggle your feet." And I shook my feet.
"Great job, Sunshine."
After the test, she and Airies moved aside out of my sight, but they were close enough for me to hear what they conversed.
"Watch her closely and monitor her every hour. She is a very good candidate for our next analysis."
After they talked, Doctor Jaimie came back to me, looked at me, and smiled. She gently touched my shoulders as she went away.
