Alrighty, I have been told to be a little more descriptive and I was planning to do something like this before anything was said anyway. So great minds think alike I guess?
While walking to class the next day after the game I was thinking something along the lines of no one really knew where I was from, I have olive skin. Everybody thought Zedd was my real name. What they didn't know was I am actually 75% Native American and 25% Irish. Then someone stopped in front of me, and I walked right into them. It was Hannah who promptly said "Watch it, and oh its you Zedd, I have been looking for you. I just wanted to let you know that I know Zedd is only a nick name." My reply was "So what. Its true, but so what." "Whats your real name?" Well that question caught me off gaurd and I guess it shouldn't have but oh well. "Shikoba McKnight, but even my parents call me Zedd"
That was the bomb shell and what I hadn't realized was we were having quite a loud conversation and just about everybody stopped and looked at me. You could imagine how fast the rumor went through the school when the whole cheersquad had been standing 10 feet away. No offence to cheerleaders but these ones were filled with gossip. That night there was another football game. First play of the game I got the ball and I ran my heart out from our 26 yard line. This time I wasn't so lucky, this time I had done screwed up. I had both safeties, all three linebackers, and 2 lineman staring me down as i ran to the left. I was hit so hard that my helmet jammed into my pads and I had a broken ankle as the doctor told me at the Emergency Room.
Of course when I went to school the next day, the coach of the team chewed me out for having to be on crutches for 2 months and said I was off the team. Apparently running the play he told me to and breaking my ankle is a punishable offence. At that point it didn't bother me, the only thing that bothered me was the hallways. People would find ways to send me messages or whisper "Shikoba the Cripple". You don't know how bad it is until you have people point and giggle when you walk by.
