"You," Y/n said to the woman standing at the other side of the doorway.
"Y/n dear," The woman replied. "That's no way to greet your mother,"
Y/n narrowed her eyes. "What do you want,"
"I just want to catch up with my only daughter," The woman answered easily with an innocent smile.

"Y/n darling," Her mother sang out in a sweet tone. "Come over here,"
A much younger version of Y/n skipped through the field of colourful flowers towards where her mother stood, admiring the view from the edge of the cliff.
"Have you ever thought about falling?" Her mother asked in a soft tone, staring into the distance.
"Falling?" Y/n asked.
"Yes, falling," Her mother continued with a smile. "Just falling through the air, from a high place,"
"Won't it hurt when you hit the ground," Young Y/n questioned as she turned to look up at her mother. There was a sense of longing across the woman's face. An expression that Y/n hadn't recognized at the time.
"The higher the place you fall from, the more it will hurt,"her mother said sweetly.
"Who knows, you might even die,"
"Why would you want to die?" Y/n asked.
"It's human nature to take the easy way out when things get hard," Her mother finally turned to face Y/n, her dull features stretched into a withered smile. A smile that didn't reach her eyes. "But never mind that, you're much too young to understand. Tell me Y/n, are you happy?"
