I rolled the cart through the deserted isles of the library, hardly anybody used the library now that you could find the answers with a few clicks on a laptop. I only picked up this job because I love books and it was an easy job with a good pay off so I couldn’t really complain too much about it. I jumped as arms wrapped around me and the familiar deep chuckle of Pogue rang through my ears and I grabbed my chest with one hand and swatted his arm with the other, “oh I’m sorry did I scare you babe?”

I turned to face him, “what are you doing here don’t you have swim practice Mr.Parry?” he smiled, “I do but I was thinking that maybe I could grab a kiss from you first.” I rolled my eyes, “nope I’m working now go.” I turned back to the shelf and started to place the books where they were supposed to go but he grabbed my hips and spun me, “I wasn’t asking.” he leaned down, capturing my lips and I wrapped my around his neck and pulled him closer, entangling one of my hands in his hair.

Someone cleared their throat at the end of the aisle and I pulled away blushing knowing that there was only one other person in the library and it was my boss, “Mr. Parry you know the rules.” I cleared his throat, “yes ma’am I’m sorry.” he kissed my cheek, “I’m off to practice now.” I nodded, “alright I’ll see you later.” he took off leaving me bright red faced with Miss. Peace’s gaze boring through my soul, “so what was that about?” I shrugged stocking the shelves again, “he wanted a kiss before practice so I gave him one.”

She came closer, “I wasn’t born last night girl and I know that look in your eyes I was young once.” I cleared my throat embarrassed, “I uh- I don’t know what you mean.” she sighed, “your eyes are filled with love and admiration. You believe that this relationship will last you a lifetime and I have a little bit of advice for you.” I turned to look at her, “Live like every moment could be your last. Enjoy it just in case it doesn’t last forever, that was my mistake growing up.” she patted my shoulder before walking away.

I stood there for a moment contemplating her words before smiling to myself, “oh I will.” I quickly finished placing all the books in their proper places then walked back to her office, “I’m heading out now.” she smiled, “keep what I said in mind.” I nodded, “I will thank you.” I left the library quickly and rushed to my room to quickly shower and change before swim practice ended. I showered using Pogue’s favorite scented shampoo and conditioner set along with his favorite body wash that I use. I also quickly shaved my legs and underarms before wrapping myself in a towel and rushing back to my dorm room to dry off and get dressed.

I searched through my closet for an outfit I settled for a pair of ripped jeans with a cute top along with my thick heeled combat boots and for undergarments I grabbed a scarlet red push up bra with lace detail with a matching set of panties just in case something were to happen tonight. I dried off in record time then got dressed in the chosen attire before sitting at my vanity and picking light natural looking makeup. I decided to curl my hair since he always loved it when I did that and I smiled at my reflection as I ran my hand through my hair rustling up the curls and took a deep breath.

I grabbed the promise ring that Pogue gave me when we first started dating and I slipped it onto my finger then grabbed my bag before rushing down to where the boys always left practice. I saw him talking to a darker skinned girl and I was hesitant to walk up but he looked over when he heard my heels and he smiled as he saw me, “hey babe.” he kissed me, “this is Kate we’ve been friends since we were younger.” I smiled, “oh you’re Kate he’s told me so much about you it’s great to finally meet you.”

I stuck my hand out for her to shake and she stared at it for a moment before hesitantly shaking my hand, “I’m guessing you’re Y/n?” I nodded, “yup that’s me.” she nodded, “nice to finally meet the mystery girl that he’s been in love with all these years.” I tapped Pogue’s shoulder, “uh could I talk to you for a moment?” he nodded, “it was great catching up with you Kate I’ll see you around.” she gave a small smile, “yeah sure.” her mood had completely changed when I walked up and it confused me.

“I was wondering if you wanted to go out tonight?” he nodded, “yeah that sounds like fun.” he looked me over, “that sounds really fun.” he grabbed my hand, “c’mon I wanted to show you something before that though.” I allowed him to drag me out to his yellow Ducati and hand me his spare helmet. I snapped the chin strap into place then wrapped my arms around him tightly so I’d stay in place while we rode. He drove for a good while before turning onto a less used path and continuing straight for a while.

Eventually we came to stop a few meters from a cliff edge, “this is the spot I come whenever I need to clear my head.” I stepped off the bike and walked over the edge and the view was absolutely breathtaking, “wow it’s beautiful.” he wrapped his arms around me, “not as beautiful as you.” I turned my head towards him and he kissed me before pulling away, “I know we’re young and people will judge but I feel like it’s right.” he pulled away and took a few steps back and I turned to look at him and he got down on one knee.

“Y/n you’ve made me the happiest I’ve been in a long time and I never thought that I’d be able to find someone who could tolerate me other than the other boys that I grew up with and I believe that you’re my soulmate and this will last forever so Y/f/n Y/m/n Y/l/n will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?” he pulled out a gorgeous vintage ring and I covered my mouth to muffle the sob that escaped, “of course I’ll marry you Pogue.”

I leaned down kissing him before pulling away and allowing him to slip the ring on my finger, “it was my mothers.” I stared at it for a moment, “it’s perfect.” I hugged him, “I love you so much Pogue Parry.” he squeezed me, “and I love you Y/n L/n.” and that’s how we stood for a while just holding each other.
