The airport gates at Gimpo International Airport were all packed with harried travelers, hoping to get to their destinations before the holidays began, when the loudspeaker pinged on with an unfortunate message. "We regret to announce that due to inclement weather, flight 0325 to Moscow, Russia, has been cancelled. Please head to the main desk."
The waiting crowd groaned and muttered as they went to the desk ahead of what was supposed to be the entrance ramp to their flight. The flight attendant there helped them determine whether they wanted a refund or a rescheduling and hotel stay.
At the beginning of the line, Seungmin was told by the flight attendant, "We don't expect to have that many passengers opting for the rescheduling, so you'll be getting a hotel room to yourself."
"Oh nice," Seungmin said happily. Being quieter, he didn't mind getting a lot of alone time. After sorting out paperwork, he turned and walked through the luggage ridden terminal and headed outside.
By the time Changbin made it to the desk, the flight attendant looked stressed out, pulling the receiver of a phone closer to their ear. They looked at him apologetically. "It looks like you'll have to share a room with a random passenger."
Changbin just shrugged, but the flight attendant added on, "They've most likely been told that they wouldn't be sharing a room with anybody, so please be kind about breaking the news to them."
The flight attendant went back on the phone with the hotel, explaining the situation, and Changbin left the now mostly empty gate to wait for a shuttle with the other passengers milling outside.
Seungmin had arrived at the hotel on the first shuttle there and was told by a tired receptionist, "The flight attendant called ahead to say that there had been a mistake and that you'll have to share a room with someone."
Seungmin nodded, slightly disappointed, but he was curious to see who his roommate would be. He headed up to the room, swiping the key card and rolling his luggage inside. After he had gotten settled, he laid down on the only bed with a deep sigh, letting himself relax.
After a while, someone swung the door open, and Seungmin quickly sat up to see Changbin enter.
Without offering any introduction, Changbin said, "Hey, I'm sorry, I don't know if you knew that you'd have to share a room."
"Yeah, they told me at the front desk," Seungmin replied, still sitting on the bed.
Changbin stepped inside, putting down his bag and kicking off his shoes. He looked around at the room and looked disappointed seeing the single bed. "Aw, one of us is gonna have to sleep on the floor!"
"We can just both share," Seungmin shrugged.
Changbin cringed. "Ew, I can't share a bed with a guy. That's gay!"
Seungmin frowned. "What's wrong with being gay?"
"What, are you?" Changbin shot back.
Seungmin raised his eyebrows. "So what if I am?"
Changbin stepped away from him. "Okay, now I really need to go. I can't share a bed with a gay guy!"
Seungmin's shoulders slumped. "Whatever you want. I'm taking the bed, so it's your loss."
"Fine," Changbin said irritably.
They both unpacked their bags and washed up, avoiding each other.
When it was getting late, Changbin huddled up on the unforgiving, rough carpeted floor, wrapping a blanket around him to trap in as much heat as possible.
Seungmin peered over the edge of the bed. "Are you sure you don't want to move up? You look cold."
"No!" Changbin exclaimed, disgusted.
