The cold night air hit Taehyungs face as he stood out on his bedroom balcony, the breeze making his brown hair fall into his eyes. He blew the strands out of his face and let out a sigh as he stared up at the moon.
Taehyung turned to head back into his room when he heard the crunching of leaves under someone's feet as they walked along the pathway Infront of his house.
"Pssst!"
Tae thought he heard a whisper come from below the second floor balcony, but instead of investigating the noise he shook it off thinking it was just the wind until he heard it again.
"Psssst!! Taehyung!"
He headed back over to the balcony railing and looked over, only to meet a pair of big, brown doe eyes and a very familiar bunny smile.
"What are you doing here this late Jungkook?!" Taehyung whisper yelled at the boy standing under the balcony, and in response he got a gesture for him to come down and see him. He walked inside from the balcony and locked the double doors that led out. Taehyung decided to slip on a regular brown hoodie and kept the hood up over his head. He then tied up his pair of red converse hightops, the shoes of the typical teenager. Everyone owned a pair Taehyung thought, so he begged his parents to let him get a pair and they did, after everyone stopped wearing them as much.
He sighed as he opened his bedroom door as quietly as he could, shutting it just as quietly then proceeding to tiptoe down the stairs being extra careful not to make any noise because after being caught last time for sneaking out he didn't really want to deal with the consequences. Taehyung managed to get out the front door without making a sound and met Jungkook out on the pavement.
"About time" the younger boy sneered at the elder.
"Well I wasn't about to get my ass busted for sneaking out again" Taehyung rolled his eyes at his best friend and they laughed and started to walk down the dark street. The walk was accompanied by an extremely uncomfortable silence which was weird for the two because they never had uncomfortable silence. They eventually arrived at their local neighbourhood park, Jungkook sat on a vacant swing and Taehyung sat on the one next to him."So..." Taehyung nervously bit his lip, wondering why the younger boy had called him out at this time of night, this usually happened when something was wrong and he didn't like the feeling that was sitting in the pit of his stomach.
"I.. I just... Wanted to say that... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry Tae..." The younger boy choked out words, sounding like he was about to cry.
"For what Kookie? You haven't done anything wrong" Taehyung looked over at Jungkook, to see him sitting forward, the full moon shining on his face, revealing the fact that his eyes looked like freshly cut glass and Taehyung noticed a single tear roll down his face. He hated seeing that look on his best friends face, it hurt him so much.
"Are.. are you crying..?" Taehyung broke the silence, concern evident in his voice, he didn't like the feeling that was rising in his chest, he didn't like it one bit. But he bit his lip waiting for Jungkooks response.
"M-maybe..." The younger finally broke the silence. "L-look... The reason I called you out tonight was to tell you something..." The words that followed after shattered Taehyungs heart. He never thought he would ever hear this words escape his best friends lips but here they were.
"W..we can't be friends anymore..."
"W..why would you say that Jungkook?!" Taehyung stood up, beyond hurt and pissed off that his best friend would do this to him, what possible reason could he have for all of a sudden calling it quits after so long. "M..my parents.. they think that you going out to parties.. drinking and smoking and whatever else... Is a seriously bad influence on me...".
Taehyung scoffed in response. Was that seriously the reason. Yes, Jungkooks parents we're beyond strict about what he did and who he was friends with but he thought this was absolutely ridiculous.
"I..if I had things my way... Y..you know as well as I do that this wouldn't be happening right now..." Jungkook sobbed into his hands, he didn't want to lose his best friend but what choice did he have.. he was only 16 and because he wasn't of age he didn't have a damn say on what his parents did, if he spoke up his father would hit him out of punishment and yell about the fact that he had no respect for his elders.
Taehyung sighed and hugged the boy infront of him, letting him cry into his chest as he rubbed his back "I'm sorry Kookie..." All of a sudden the younger pushed Taehyung of him, and stood up straight, tears streaming down his face, his bright, brown eyes that naturally sparkled constantly were now dull. His voice as he spoke was as cold as ice, any sign of the boy Taehyung grew up with was gone.
"Kim Taehyung... I never want to see you again... I h-hate you..."
Rain started to pour down as Jungkook ran away from his once best friend. That was the last time Jungkook would ever walk beside him, stay over at his house and play video games, the last memory of his best friend he would ever have.. and now he would never talk to him again...
Taehyung didn't notice the hot tears that were rolling down his cheeks due to the rain and how hard it poured. When he turned to walk up his driveway he noticed the living room lights were on, signifying that his parents were awake and they knew he wasn't home. "Great.." Taehyung mumbled to himself as he opened the front door to the house, seeing his parents standing there in the hallway.
"Kim Taehyung!!" His father.. no not father.. His stepfathers voice boomed, obviously pissed off that he had once again snuck out of the house. "We warned you about sneaking out boy!" His stepfather raised his hand, going to hit his son but the 18 year old boy just shrugged in response, obviously not in the mood to deal with his stepfathers 'discipline' if that's what you can call it.
His mother stepped forward instead, and took her son's face in her hands, her hazel eyes giving her eldest child a look of sympathy as she studied his features. Red puffy eyes, a slight sniffle, stained cheeks. "Taetae.. have you been crying..?" His mother asked him softly, it was then that he let it all out. He hugged his mother tightly as he sobbed brokenheartedly, the sight making his stepfather put down his hand and his expression softened. Yes his way of disciplining his children wasn't right but he still cared if anything happened.
"What happened sweetheart?" His mother questioned while stroking his hair, hopefully getting him to calm down a little. When Taehyung his voice was hoarse and he spoke softly "J..Jungkook.. he h..hates me..." Speaking those words made the boy cry harder and his mother rubbed his back "I'm sure it's not like that honey"
"No, mom!" Taehyung snapped at her, she didn't flinch, she expected this reaction from him as his heart was broken. "It is... I..I'll never see or hear from him again..."
His mother planted a kiss on her son's forehead "go get some rest Tae.. you need it". He pulled away from his mother and trugded up the stairs and into his room. When he shut the door he looked around his room. Photos of him and Jungkook filled the walls and his desk, trophies of when they won sports and things together in a cabinet and he even had a spot in his room for all the presents Jungkook got him for birthdays and Christmas. Looking at it all hurt him. He ripped the photos off the walls and from his desk, the trophies from the cabinet and every present Jungkook ever bought him and threw everything that even reminded him slightly of the other boy into a box, and hid it away in the back of his closest. Out of sight, out of mind he thought to himself as he untied his sneakers.
He then collapsed onto his bed, mentally and physically exhausted from the events that had just taken place. He had instantly fallen asleep hoping to just forget everything, including his once best friend, Jeon Jungkook.
