Happy Endings Do Exist (One shot)

This story is dedicated to one of my best buddies (you know who you are), thank you for always inspiring me and being there when I needed someone<3.

I met Iida back during our second year. I had transferred from another school and I knew nobody of course. Sensei Aizawa had encouraged me to talk with the other classmates surprisingly but still, I refused to converse from the fact that it seemed everyone had already formed their friend group and I was still kind of bummed out from leaving MY friends behind. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder, I looked up and it was him. His poor eyebrows furrowing with his glass and a plastered worried expression on his face. He questioned me, asking me if I was okay, comforting me by rubbing my back. It was the first time I felt accepted at U.A, and not just some background character in my own life. Fast forward half a year later and we've been dating since.

Present Time

The school bell had finally rung for its last class and that meant the weekend was starting at last. Usually one would be excited to catch a break from long lasting homework and such but me, I took it as any usual day. I slung my bag from my shoulder and began to walk out of class, my head hanging low in disappointment. Me and Iida's one year anniversary was tomorrow and he had barely spoken to me at all this week! Constantly avoiding me whenever I tried to strike up a conversation with him during class, even in the cafeteria there was barely any exchange of words. It had me overthinking for days on end and what he was doing right now didn't help either. It made me think...is this really the end? Was he about to break up with me on our freaking anniversary out of all times? Surely he found someone else then, or did he lose feelings for me? Was I not enough for him? And when I thought things could not get worse I suddenly bumped into someone, causing me to fall back on my ass and out of my state of mind. I rubbed my head and looked up to see who it was, and who would have known it was him. "Y/N! Jesus, are you alright?" He asked, picking me up from the ground. I stared at him with a cold face, that exact sentence was the most he had said all this time and it wasn't even worth it. "You know what, forget it." I simply said, now turning my back on him to walk back to my dorm.

Hours passed by and I laid there across my bed, staring out in the window as day fell and night rose up. Those four words kept replaying in my head on a loop: Is this the end?.. Is THIS the end?..Is this THE END?.. I bit my lip to stop the tears from coming out, what happened to that sweet boy I knew on my first day. The one that never left my side until we were both sure I was strong enough to be on my own. Then, out of nowhere, a notification chimed in through my phone. I quickly flipped myself to the other side of the bed to pick my phone that was on the nightstand, clicking the message to see who it was.

Starlight<3 (Iida): Y/N, could you come over to my dorm real quick? There's something I want to show you.

You: Sure, makes things easier for me. I'll be over in 5.

Starlight<3: Thank you, I'll see you soon. I love you..

I stared down at the last message for awhile, unsure as if I even wanted to respond in the first place. It could be the last time he ever exchanges those words to me though.. I placed my phone down and changed out of my uniform to wear something more comfy, having it be a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie of his that I stole, still smelt like him too. That perfect vanilla scent that I loved to take in. I applied a bit of perfume to have my own smell, now slipping on my sneakers and grabbing my phone. I made my way to the elevator to go to his floor which was 2 floors above mine. My foot tapped on the floor nervously while my hands played with the strings of the hoodie anxiously wanting to know what Iida was up to. I heard the ding from the elevator doors opening, debating if I should just close it right back up and call in sick. I reached my hand out to the button, inches away from pressing it until I heard another vibration come from my phone.
