(Third Person POV)
The Valentine's 1day dance was in full bloom, and everyone could be seen mingling with their significant other. Everyone seemed to have a date! Well, everyone except for Jake, that is. He stood off to the side, watching everyone, missing that feeling of having someone to love and care about. He looked over and saw Daisy, handing out treats to people. Oh, how he wished he could be over there with her, helping hand out treats all while getting ready for the slow dance that they would dance to, showing their true feeling for each other. Unfortunately, that wasn't very likely to happen, as Jake and Daisy had broken up just a month before.(Flashback)
Jake and Daisy were strolling through the park, when they came across a field of flowers. They sat down on a bench in front of them, and looked down at the breathtaking scene in front of them. The flowers were surrounding a pond, with water so clear, you could see the ducks' feet paddling under the water. Daisy looked at the scene in awe, before saying,"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Jake looked over at her and smiled, "not as beautiful as you," Daisy's face tensed up, and she looked back at him, frowning. "Jake, there's something I need to tell you," Jake looked over at her in a panic, thinking he did something wrong. "I- I don't think we are gonna work out..." "W- what do you mean? I thought you said you liked me too?" Jake said in a panic. "Well, I thought I did, but now, the more I think about it, I can't seem to think of you as a boyfriend. I really only see you as a friend." Jake started to tear up, and got up to leave. He started running away from the bench. Jake could hear Daisy saying something, but he just kept on running.
(Present day)
Jake looked around at the dance with a frown on his face, thinking about how he had been looking forward to this dance for weeks, but now he felt like he didn't belong there. He finally decided to move from the corner he was standing in, when he noticed that Daisy started to leave. He knew he wasn't her boyfriend anymore, but he had a gut feeling that he needed to see what was going on. Once she left the building, Jake silently started walking after her. He hid behind some bushes, and looked out at the scene that was playing out in front of him. He could hear Daisy laughing with someone, but Jake couldn't see who the other laugh belonged to. He slowly started to get closer, but stopped when he saw what was happening. Just a few feet away from him, Daisy was kissing someone, and it wasn't some random person, it was Sean! Jake started to tear up, before running away from the scene, tears streaming down his face. As he was running, he bumped into someone, but was too upset to see who it was. Little did he know that this particular person knew him very well, and started to run after him.(Jake's POV)
I kept on running, trying to get somewhere where I could be alone. I eventually stopped for a moment to catch my breath, and that is when I heard her voice. It wasn't Daisy's, it belonged to someone else. I turned around and saw a girl with beautiful teal hair and big grey eyes, that looked at him with sorrow. She was in a pink dress with white lace accents, with a jewel in the front and a big bow in the back."O-oh, Hailey, w-what are you doing here?" I stuttered out as he tried to hide the fact that he was crying.
"Well, you bumped into me, and I saw you running so I wanted to make sure that you were ok. She replied back.
"Oh, sorry about that, I wasn't really looking where I was going." I looked down and we stood there in silence for a few minutes.
"Jake, is there something wrong?"
"No, everything's fine, no need to worry about me..." I couldn't even look up to make eye contact with her. Hailey walked over to me and I silently started to cry. She pulled me over to a bench and sat me down.
"Jake, you know you can tell me anything, unlike your little 'friends', I will actually listen and won't make fun of you." She looked up at me, and I finally decided to tell her. I told her how I had saw Daisy earlier and how much I missed dating her, I told her how I had followed her outside, and I told her how I had seen sean and her kissing, and the whole time she sat there, listening to what I was saying. When I finished, she locked eyes with me, and slowly started to lean in. At first, I didn't realize what she was doing, but by the time I did, it was too late. She started kissing me, and at first I hesitated, but I then kissed her back. After a few seconds, she pulled back and started to panic.
"I-I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking, I should have asked you first, and now you probably hate me and-" I cut her off by kissing her again, and she almost instantly kissed back. When we finished, we looked at each other and were smiling uncontrollably.
"Y'know, I've actually been wanting to do that for a really long time now." Hailey whispered.
"Well, even though I never admitted it, I think I may have liked you too." I whispered back. We sat there for a little while, and then decided to go back to the dance. Right when we walked in, the slow dance was starting, so I took Hailey's hand and led her out to the dance floor.
