"Doctor, is there anything my son can speak normally? It has been years since his vocal cords were damaged heavily..."
"Mrs. Midoriya, your son's condition is permanent. His vocal cords isn't showing any signs of improvement, nor has it recovered. He suffered vocal cords paralysis since he was six, right?"
"Ah, yes... A classmate of his accidentally set off firecrackers near him, which badly burned his throat. He was hospitalized for two months before he was discharged, but his voice had changed drastically."
A man in white coat turned his attention to a young boy next to his mother, his uninterested but low eyes had been staring off adrift, which is literally at the ground throughout the entire conversation.
"Izuku-san?" The boy stared up back at the doctor, "Can you repeat what I am about to say? "I am Midoriya Izuku, age 14, and attended Aldera Junior High." He spoke, testing if what the woman said is true her son's voice would always sounded harsh.
"I, am Midoriya, Izuku, age 14, and attended, Aldera Junior, High."
"Definitely damaged vocal cords. Hoarse voice, stopped between words, etc..." The doctor noted mentally, "May I ask what would you want to be once you're an adult? Say like an engineer." He asked. So far, he'd stopped between two words.
"I do not, know what I want to, be, when I'm older," The boy replied, his voice harsh, hoarse and deep as well as strained, "Though, I wanted, to be a Hero. I'm not sure if, I can, because I don't have a, Quirk."
"... I see, I see," The doctor eventually looks back to the mother, "Mrs. Midoriya, your son's condition is permanent, I'm afraid. From the looks of it judging from his x-ray, he'll probably never recoverd a normal voice." He told Midoriya Inko, as she frowns sadly, caressing a hand over to her son's shoulder softly.
"I thought there was a chance he could regain his beautiful voice. Sadly, I still held onto that small ray of hope even to this day," She smiled bitterly, "Thank you, doctor. We will take our leave now," All three stood up from their seats, as the doctor waves his hand nonchalantly.
"Ah, it is alright, Mrs. Midoriya. We're just doing our jobs. Take care."
"Don't lie..."
For Izuku, that last sentence was a mockery. As he turns around to leave the room, he'd seen the doctor scoffing when his mother mentions his Quirkless nature.
"Well, that doctor was nice?" Inko chuckles, as both she and her son leaves the clinic, going to their parked car.
"Hardly. Everyone is still, the same when it comes to. My Quirklessness."
Inko frowned at Izuku's harsh reply, as he places his hands inside his pockets, "There's no such, thing as simple kindness in this world. Because. If there's such a thing, then shouldn't the teachers, have stepped in everytime, I was treated like, a garbage?"
"Don't say that, Izuku. I'm positive that there's always a good side in everyone, deep within them," She reassured, "I'm not defending those that have wronged you. You're not weak, or an idiot. You're still holding onto the dream of being a Hero, right? Even though you've been ridiculed of that, you remain standing strong." Izuku glances at her, before they eventually stopped to the car, as he sat on the backseats.
